Yeah, this might not be the kind of question you guys were intending, but I'm curious as to what all your megacs are like.

I call this Megac Shadow Sniper:

Parts:

  • Falcion Head (+4 Shield Life)
  • R.A.M. Wing: (Grants Swoop Ability)
  • Voltra Core: (+1 Armor)
  • Voltra Belt: (+1 Jump)
  • Sniper Arm: (Grants Snipe Shot Ability)
  • Electrocrush Dyna Arm: (Grants Uppercut Ability)
  • Zomzom Leg: (+1 Armor)
  • Voltra Leg: (Grants Tornado Ability)

Stats:

  • Extra Damage: 0
  • Attack Speed: +0%
  • Armor: 2
  • Shield Life: 8
  • Jumps: 3
  • Movement Speed: +0%

Abilities:

  • Standard: Snipe Shot
  • Side: Tornado
  • Up: Swoop
  • Down: Uppercut

This Megac build was designed to build up damage quickly using its Snipe Shot and Tornado abilities, then finish opponents off with a swift Uppercut. It doesn't rely on bonuses to attack speed or attack power since they have no effect on the build's abilities. Likewise, it only has a little bit of armor since ability damage seems to ignore armor. It doesn't rely on bonuses to movement speed since I personally don't find them as useful as any of the other bonuses (especially since I'm quite capable of hitting fast-moving opponents). It has only 1 extra jump because Swoop and Tornado are usually sufficient to recover from great distances. Finally, the reason why it has extra shield life is so that the Megac build can better afford to absorb damage (more reliably than armor bonuses I'd say), including from abilities such as Drill, Tornado, Pound, Spinkick, and Uppercut to name a few, and then counterattack with a few moves of its own (although I'm considering sacrificing some armor for even more shield life).

Although I could've gone for Pound instead of Uppercut for its greater horizontal range, I decided on Uppercut's greater vertical range since I can quickly surprise opponents with a sudden jump, followed by a well-timed Uppercut. Also, it's easy to chain Uppercuts once you manage to trap an opponent under a ceiling. :P

Here's another Megac build that I just playtested. I call him Blinky: :P

Parts:

  • Velox Head: (Grants Teleport Ability)
  • R.A.M. Wing: (Grants Swoop Ability)
  • Mega Core: (+4 Shield Life)
  • Voltra Belt: (+1 Jump)
  • Sniper Arm: (Grants Snipe Shot Ability)
  • B-Chipset Hammer Arm: (Grants Pound Ability)
  • Zomzom Leg: (+1 Armor)
  • Zomzom Leg: (+1 Armor)

Stats:

  • Extra Damage: 0
  • Attack Speed: +0%
  • Armor: 2
  • Shield Life: 8
  • Jumps: 3
  • Movement Speed: +0%

Abilities:

  • Standard: Snipe Shot
  • Side: Pound
  • Up: Swoop
  • Down: Teleport

Although similar to Shadow Sniper stat-wise, Blinky was designed to make more extensive use of the Teleport ability. When assigned to the down-special ability slot, Teleport can be readily used to surprise attack enemies from above them, counter enemy attacks (in an almost similar manner to Marth's, Roy's, or Ike's counter moves), or even surprise attack enemies that are to the side (in a similar manner as the Fox Illusion from Super Smash Bros.). Pound was chosen over Uppercut to better enable Blinky to spike airborne enemies or knock away grounded enemies.

nice builds guys!

Here's my current build/config: Imgur.com

Currently sporting the Bouldar color scheme because the weird color combination is pretty awesome. I haven't played the new update yet so I'll have to see if any of the new colors look better.

The head part's a little pointy, but it's the best looking head part with the teleport ability IMO. The core's kinda thin, but it's the only drill-ability core that I could find. Both legs are neomoog legs for symmetry, which have the incredibly awesome spinkick ability. Left arm's a machine gun arm and the right arm's a +1 damage arm. (Velox arm I believe, but I could be wrong.) Shoulders are also +1 damage, Falcion shoulders from the frostbyte stage I believe.

I hope there'll be drill or teleport hip/shoulder parts in a future update so I can mess around with different heads and cores. :)

Indeed, I wish there were more drill dash parts that DIDN'T look like giant drills for limbs. As cool as that is, it doesn't really fit when someone wants a build other than bulky.

Also, protip: You can take a close-up screenshot of your character by activating the parts terminal, and taking the screenshot while the animation for it's playing, but before the menu pops up.

(I kinda want a sort of display platform that zooms up real close to your megac somewhere in the village though)

A display platform is a nice idea Giik, what do you think would be a suitable spot?

Im abit late, but just wanted to say that maybe in your house? ability to rotate model would be awesome too.

I was also wondering why not make save slots ;-; and a manual save button to save my progress mid-level instead of closing and starting all over again. Anyways i will post my megac when im done with the build ^_^

Another idea i had was why not make a third machine in the house where we can save/load our mech builds (Name them as well :3) would be really cool.

Nice build!

May 31 2013 Anchor

@mrchocolatex: It's a nice build for use against computer players, and maybe even for 3 or 4 player free-for-alls, though in a 1-vs-1 match against a skilled human player that knows what he/she is doing, it's not exactly the best build that I've seen. While Teleport does add an extra element of surprise and unpredictability to your build's offensive capabilities, and while Blaster requires less wind-up time to use than Rapid Fire or Snipe Shot, Blaster's slower projectile speed makes it only ideal for medium-short range, as opposed to Rapid Fire's and Snipe Shot's longer ranges. The biggest weakness that I see with this build is the lack of a quick high-knockback melee attack such as Pound, Spinkick, Uppercut, or Slice to quickly and reliably finish off badly damaged opponents. Although Giganto Missile deals heavy knockback (comparable to Spinkick), it takes a long time to fire (compared to Pound's or Uppercut's quick wind-up times), and the projectiles travel very slow, giving players plenty of time to dodge, block, or even reflect the missiles! Moreover, as this video shows, Giganto Missiles can easily backfire on you if shoot at point blank range!

@ShadowWolfJC I know that :) It's just for Tournament, my PVP-Build is different.

Quite a few high knockback moves that I see there, though how will this build be able to build up damage quickly, compared to these 2 builds?

In my opinion, a combination of high-damage low-knockback moves paired with low-damage high-knockback moves would allow players to quickly KO opponents, 1st by building up high damage (using moves such as Snipe Shot, Tornado, Drill, or Virus Slice, or by simply having many + damage parts), then by sending the weakened opponents off-stage (using moves such as Pound, Uppercut, Giganto Missile, or Shovel to name a few).

Depends on the player :D im fine with my build :)

Jun 23 2013 Anchor

This is the Megac I've been using lately. He's got a pretty heavy focus on close-range physical combat. The drill attack and slide attack are great short-range attacks, and the stun period they inflict on enemies is a great lead-in to some kickpunch combos and other attacks. Also, the hammer pound and side slash give him the ability to knock opponents away when things get too intense.

I've also found the drill and slide attacks (drill in particular) extremely helpful with mobility, and the drill can also be an excellent setup for a quick combo you come up from below your enemy, or directly down from above.

I just wish there were more options to choose from when picking a chest with the drill ability; the Velox Core is hideous.

And in some alternate colours:

I got the chance to try this for the first time in PvP yesterday, and I did pretty well, although the other guy had zero experience. I'm going to try to play some more PvP as time goes on, and I'll probably have a different setup for that. I had some fun with the Tornado attack as well, which bears looking into some more.

I can sweep the AI tournament mode with this setup though, so that must count for something.
