Does anyone know if this game supports multiplayer? I know the game profile states its singleplayer but the trailer shows several games being played with two.

That's a good question.

I'd also like to know if there is multiplayer on any of these games.

Okay, so I decided to bite the bullet and give this game a shot despite being uncertain about the multiplayer. I'm very happy to report that it does in fact support multiplayer! That alone make this collection worth the asking price and then some in my book.

However, I do have an issue when playing with a gamepad. The input for down is always active making it impossible to enjoy these games properly. Has anyone else experienced this? Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.

Wait, there's a screenshot from R-Type 1 but the game list only includes Leo and Cosmic Cop!

Can anyone confirm that R-Type 1 is in this collection?

Pretty sure it isn't. I have the collection from the dotemu site and there's no R-Type 1 in there.

If someone can confirm R-type 1 is on there, I will definently buy it.

I can't confirm or deny, but the R-Type series retread a lot of the same ground with each sequel. They loved those big flaming dragon things, and some of the bosses are in multiple games. It's possible that there's a 'flashback' level or something in one of the games as well. I've not played the R-Type games all that much, so I don't even know what clip was supposed to be from the first game, heh.

If you're buying it, assume that it's not in there. If it is, then it's a bonus, or an unlockable or something.

I'm probably going to buy this for In The Hunt alone. That game is fantastic, and there's never been a decent port of it to any system. Some of the guys who developed / did the art for that game went on to make the Metal Slug games, and it shows. The graphics are outstanding, and they do a lot of clever stuff with the stages and bosses. Very much underrated.

That may be but Leo and Cosmic Cop have different core gameplay designs (neither has the force pod or a charge shot, Leo has Bits with guns that can be thrown out as homing missiles and Cop has a beam laser) so they're not a substitute for vanilla R-Type. Leo doesn't even throw you back to a checkpoint when you die.
