I think I like the concept more than the model... the model is a wee bit too flat imo
3\10 - I see 2 different ships =(
It's a turret! It's fantastic, don't listen to these profanes
Looks very much like something from Homeworld.
the front of the guns makes it look like you rendered this in the second LOD, is that true?
Sorry, but concept >>> model.
also sorry but the model looks way different to the concept
ignore meazum, seems like hea learnt one game dev "term" and wants to use it
alot of naysayers :P
i actually think that it is very well thought out for the poly count :)
Its a great model, its obvious that it was inspired by the concept art, not copied. (though I would like to see the turret being wider, like the concept)
It's indeed quite low poly, around 1000 tris ( and i agree there seems to be a LOD problem. I think Betelgeuze zoomed on it, instead of physically advancing the camera close to it, when he took the screenshot ). Of course, you have to remember that a single battleship can have 30 of those, and that there can be tens of battleships in a single area in the game..
It looks like the modeler got a little lazy in some bits and thought "Aww the texturer will add that detail"(such as the shape of the blue lights). And then the texturer got lazy and though "Aww it's close enough"(such as the shape of the blue lights).
It's like saying "oh, my the texture for this incredibly small window on my dreadnought is off, please make it have a higher poly count. Now let me zoom out 10,000x to see the whole ship".
