Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb Windows, Mac, XBOX, PS2 game

After the events of "Raiders of the Lost Ark", Dr. Henry Jones is persuaded to go for another adventure...

The adventure is chronologically set between "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom".

Altough there are lots of fact mistakes and locations don't look like their real life counterparts ( Prague, Istanbul ), you get the feeling, the atmosphere of the given location. And face it - if it was 100% authentic, it wouldn't be as (re)playable as it is. Double Helix Games did their job more than well I think.

The gameplay is mainly beat'em up / shoot'em up with strong emphasis on melee and armed close combat.
Gunplay is simplistic ( Indy aims and targets enemies on his own just as Lara Croft, no crosshair visible ), only if you tap look key you can aim manually ( crosshair appears ).

Melee on the other hand is very rich. Indy and other characters ( mainly enemies ) can use various melee combos and grabs. Walls, ledges, railings - everything is taken into an account and can be used to gain advantage in the brawl. Surrounding items and furniture can be used as weapons as well - chairs, table legs, liquor bottles, shovels, lever handles, torches...all these can be picked and handled as improvised weapons. Also you can disarm enemies and use their weapons aganist them - swords, spears, machetes, knives, firearms and so on. But enemies can disarm YOU as well, so better be cautious all the time.

Of course there is also platforming and some logic puzzles try to test your wits, but with two or three exceptions these parts are easy.

One major drawback of this game is a camera. Sometimes, especially if you are cornered, expect to see nothing -_-. But if you avoid such situations, you are fine for the most of the game.

Altogether, this piece is maybe not a world wonder, but provides unexpected amount of entertainment. And if you are an action gamer, or more - PC / MAC action melee beat'em up oriented gamer, then this is without a doubt a must. For a PC / MAC there is not too many other games of this genre which can offer you such a rich variety in a brawl while avoiding stereotype quite good by mixing in other gameplay elements.
