The prophecies of the end times were truer than mankind might have guest. Only they weren’t about demons from below, but voracious aliens from above. These ravenous beings evolved beneath the ruddy glow of a hellstar and call themselves the Morgris. They spread like a plague from star to star conquering, seeding and consuming. Nothing but death and destruction lay in their wake. Our experiments in dimensional transportation caused us to run right into them. Now they have our technology and they know where we live. In a pocket dimension on the other side of reality four of their armadas are gathering to invade. If they succeed in building a bridge from there system to ours humanity will be wiped from the cosmos. They will drain our sun till it glows blood red to for their nightmarish flora flourish. Beneath that sanguine light the Morgris will seed our planet. There brood will devour every living thing on Earth.

Our one hope is to cripple their portals and prevent their invasion. We can open a small rift and send one ship through to the pocket reality where the Morgris are staging. You must find the portal nodes. They will be heavily guarded and reinforcements will not be far away so you won’t have much time. Fight off the Morgris forces. Destroy the portal nodes. Then hunt down the horse headed control ships managing the fleets. All humanity is counting on you.

HellStar is an space arena shooter with rogue-like elements. The combat is zero g, high speed dogfighting where every movement counts. Efficiency, quick thinking and fast reactions are what count.

You spawn into a procedurally generated room with 5 nodes scattered about. Each node is shielded and guarded by hostiles. Destroy the guards and break through the shield, then pass over the node to activate it. Only two of the nodes will open the portal to the next sector. One of others will hold a ship upgrade and the remaining two will be decoys. Activate the right nodes and go to the portal before reinforcements arrive. You will have two minutes shut down each sector. After that enemy ships will pour out in overwhelming numbers, so don’t dally. Beating four sectors will unlock the gate to one of four horsemen you will have to defeat, codenamed Pestilence, Famine, War and Death.

Strafe and juke around your enemies to kill them as fast as possible while trying to minimize your own damage. Since you're on a timer and you’re in a confined space you can’t just kite the enemies to death. You have to make bold aggressive plays to get out on time.

-Choose one of three ships, each with a unique passive ability.

-The fourth ship can only be unlocked by beating the game.

-There are no points for kills. Beating HellStar is all about time and speed. On the leaderboard the person with the fastest time wins.
