For this recurring segment, we will be highlighting the five biggest stories on IndieDB for the prior week. Whether it's demo releases for upcoming indie games, Kickstarter campaign announcements, or important stories that affect the indie gaming as a whole, you'll find them rounded up here each week.

The Week of July 27 2018

Griefhelm is a dueling game like Nidhogg, with a 3-directional combat system, meaning that you will need to choose the direction of attack and to avoid getting hit, you'll need to block in the correct direction, or dodge the hit by simply moving (this won't always be an option though).
There are three attack directions (Up: Overhead Slash, Mid: Slash, Down: Thrust). The directional blocking is done through a stance system. For example, if the player is in the stance with the sword up, he'll block incoming overhead slashes.

In the year 199X, the streets of Heaven's Point is but a thin web hiding a dark hive of violent gangs, manipulative corporations and corrupt politicians. The decent people of the city live in fear as any soul brave enough to stand up to these criminals quickly disappears into the shadows never to be seen again. When his dearest friend falls prey to the scum of the Devil Dogs one man must draw strength from the violent past he had hoped never would surface again.

Hotel Magnate is a tycoon/simulator game where you get to build and manage your own hotel, motel, resort or anything in-between. The building tools allow you to customize and build the hotel the way you want it, with a large selection of furniture and decorative items. Grow the capability of your hotel by building different rooms and facilities from Restaurants to Spa's to Conference Halls.

King under the Mountain is a simulation-based strategy/management game where you design, build and run a settlement in a fantasy world. Then, once you're up and running, you can send out groups of adventurers to explore and loot other players' creations, playing out through turn-based tactical combat. You start a game on a randomly-generated area map with a few settlers, tools and other provisions, and slowly grow into a self-sustaining village, town, or eventually, a city. You play as one of several fantasy races each with their own unique gameplay mechanics.

The Amazing Fantastics is a 2D turn-based RPG that lets you build your own team of superheroes to protect a city and lead the fight against fiendish villains!
