Hearts of Oak: Conquest of the Seas is a non-commercial PC game being developed by PiratesAhoy!, and is to become the historical seafaring game to end them all! Fun, realistic gameplay on land and at sea, set during the Age of Sail, will provide extensive free play, exciting scripted storylines and intense multiplayer scenarios.
To speed up our process, we have purchased this pirate island for use in our game. It comes with a lot of separate parts that we intend to reuse all over the Caribbean. Of course we have a lot of other models being worked on as well!
The textures look high res from this perspective, are they up close the same? And the poly count? Also does Unity bring a smooth working LOD system? Also is the whole island walk-able or is most of it blocked by ''natural barriers''?
It's a brilliant idea to use these big packs to speed up the creation of the Caribbean! Saves more time for the great gameplay and high end ship models! Great job!
Textures look pretty good to me. And you can walk just about everywhere. Including to the top of the big mountain. Though you easily fall off there.
Unity does have a LOD system, that much I know. Though one of our other members would be able to elaborate on that a bit more.
Thanks (Dank u) for the heads up:)
