Pick up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. I think he is some kind of an interdimensional being that helps navigate Freeman's bullets.
According to the Half Life wiki,he IS an interdimentsional being,but all he does is sometimes help,or hinder the protagonists of the game. Some people can see him,others can't,which means that he might have some power to control who and who doesn't see him.
