Known by the common-folk of London as Jack the Ripper, Grim finds himself caught up in the most devious plots and conspiracies. Having been framed before, Grim once again finds himself wrongfully incriminated. His betrayer, Dr. Jekyll, has stirred the coals and set fire to Grim's rage.

My man Grim ! Quite nice indeed Bret. Crisp definitions and detailing. Looking forward to the finished product and the enhancements that the UDK might offer you with him.

Grim looks so strange without that even smile of his.

Great textures.

Also hello, Bret.
Great work.

Good! Touch up either on the cloth or his face with a little yellow/orange, so they don't look like the same material, I'd say. He's very ghostlike as is.
Also, was that a deliberate decision to make the arms so unproportionally long? I know I asked before, but I can't help thinking that looks odd. And finally - why are you rendering in Marmoset and not in UDK?

Sin. His arms are long for both style/"story". We are really pushing proportions on the characters, especially the non-human ones. His Burtonesque proportions are intentional. You guys haven't seen any of the anims yet, but his long limbs make for dramatic movement.

As far as rendering goes, Bret isn't super versed in UDK, I'll be fashioning a character shader for Grim this week.

UDK is on my list of things to learn, until then I use Marmoset to view my models. It helps me to see where the game may see seams, or normal map issues... Maybe if the character is too heavy in polys etc.

Description

Hi guys. I am Bret, a character artist working on Grim. This is my first post here. Anyways, I gave Grim's texture work a revisit. I hope you like. It is still a WIP.

These screenies are taken in the Marmoset Game Engine. This is not UDK. So this is not final lighting or anything... Also, we still need to finish his eyes, monocle, teeth, and the chain that holds his cape in place. I am sure we will post a more finished shot when he is in the engine and finished. I would say this shot here is 90% complete.

Enjoy.
