Hello everyone,
We wanted to share our experience with cross-promotion through our recently released game, G.O.M.P! While the intention was to promote our upcoming game, Residuum, unfortunately, G.O.M.P! did not succeed in attracting the audience we were hoping for.
After three days, we have only had 5,423 lifetime total units and 41 lifetime unique users. This is quite disappointing, especially considering that many players added G.O.M.P! to their library just for collection purposes.
G.O.M.P! has zero reviews on Steam and only 3 curator reviews, which appear to be spam. However, we would like to mention that the game has gamepad and shared screen co-op support, which we had hoped would appeal to players looking for a fun couch co-op experience.
In conclusion, while cross-promotion can be an effective way to promote a game, it is not always guaranteed to succeed. we hope that by sharing our experience, other developers can learn from our mistakes and plan their cross-promotion strategies more effectively.
Please check out the video below for a gameplay trailer and some images of G.O.M.P! Thank you for reading.
Best regards,
