Gods and Idols is a massively multiplayer online real-time strategy game based around intergalactic gods in their struggle for domination over the universe. Experience life as one of the descendants of the mysterious and mighty Oberon, father of all gods, as one of the ascended humans in a tragic storyline written by fantasy writer Sean Pan. In this dynamic and massive universe, you are one of the powerful immortals capable of refashioning the entire planet into a lush wonderland for your followers, exalting them to build temples or launch powerful war fleets to aid in the expansion of your empire.

APIStudios' Gods and Idols add Player Trade

Don't have enough Essence to discover the most powerful artifacts in the universe yet? Need more Power to fuel your deity's desire to create more symmetric and identical statues of himself on every single planet? No worries! In APIStudios' new game, Gods and Idols, where players get to be gods in a far future universe where humanity has come under the guidance of incredibly powerful spiritual entities, two commodities stand out in importance and value: Essence and Power.

Previously, Essence could only be obtained slowly, through the recovery of the spread particulates from remains of fallen gods or from the online store. Power, on the other hand, was the result of worship from your planetary populations but now savvy gods have a new way of obtaining both. Mithris, the goddess of trade, has made it possible for players to auction their essence for power, and vice versa.

Be careful as you plunge into the trade goddess' generosity, however, for while the wise and crafty may gain just the edge they need, your foes may seek to the same. Never before have artifacts become so accessible to so many – but at what price to the universe and the worshipers who fuel the gods?

The game is currently not playable. The old version, 1.x, was shut down a few weeks ago so complete focus could be spent on finalizing the new version, 2.x. There is no release date, but we'll be sure to post about it when it's available.

It's not really "hush hush" but at the same time I don't want to promise features that never make it in ;)
There are some details and pieces of information to be found in the Advisor logs on the official forum.

The plan is to have 2.0 ready this spring (Q1 2011).
