Errr, this game was added to various pc magazines for free already in the past. Why limit the new sales to any world zone/invitation :o

You guys know that it`s working as an open invitation to use piratebay or other pirate sites, right ? :o

i found this invitation only release quite ironic ... funny how a game that would have been easily accessible in his own time , is now a pain to even buy XD

It says "Invite only release." here. Perhaps they will release it worldwide later?

I am playing Descent: Freespace under Ubuntu 12.04 (lInux kernel 3.2.0-31) . When I commit to the second mission "The Field of Battle" the game crashes with the following error message:

*** glibc detected *** ./freespace-bin: double free or corruption (!prev): 0x098e9750 ***

and a long memory map.

What is the correct venue to discuss this in?

Not only that, the intro does not have sound and if you try to play it from the Tech Room, the game crashes.

I am wondering if there's a way to file an bug report to the developer/publisher? These games are not cheap, and if the bugs are not ironed out in a timely manner, I might consider requesting a refund.

This is the original source code of the game ported to Linux. The no sound was an issue with not being able to get the sound in videos working correctly. You might want to try downloading and using FS2_Open which uses the Freespace 1 & 2 data files but has a much more updated engine for the game.

Thanks, I hadn't known about FS2Open before. However, it requires a retail Freespace 2 installation, which I don't have, and I don't really feel like shelling out another 6 bucks for it.
