Disclaimer: We currently are in the midst of some pretty major updates to the game. Most of our energy is spent working, and there is little content that we can actually share right now. As we get closer to the big Update 26 release we will slowly reveal more and more of what we have been dying to share with you all!

Game Balance

@Mark
We’re currently in the process of reviewing game balance across the board. While we’re constantly tweaking numbers here and there for each update based on player feedback, we have some time to do a more broad evaluation at this point. While much of this review is in progress and the conversation with the community is still active, I wanted to share our thoughts on the issues that have been surfaced thus far:

Low tier vehicles become obsolete by other vehicles in the late game

We’ve put a lot of thought into this one and while it’s too early to discuss any features in depth, we’re thinking of adding in some sort of vehicle upgrade system in the future that levels the playing field for Armoured Cars, FMGs, and Half-Tracks in the late game.

The work of builders can be too easily undone

Much of the design here is work in progress. For the longer term future, it’s no secret that we’re going to be doing large revamp of structure building in Foxhole but that won’t be coming until later this year. In the meantime, we are looking into alleviating some of the pain that builders have been feeling by providing more anti-tank defense options and also improved ways to build structures.

Facilities are too difficult to build due to insufficient Upgrade Parts

Later this year we will be making more comprehensive changes to the game’s economy that will hopefully overcome the Upgrade Part shortages that we see now. In the short run, we are looking to drastically reduce the number of Upgrade Parts required to build facilities at Factories, Refineries, and Forward Bases.

Relic Vehicles are overpowered in the early game

We goofed up the balance on this one for sure, especially in the early game. In the long run, we have more ideas on how the system can be more interesting, such as the excavation process being more complex or Relic Vehicles being reserved for more event like situations rather than being abundantly available. For now, we will gating Relic Vehicle spawns on specific Technology. For example, Storm Tanks won’t begin spawning until enough anti-tank countermeasures are available.

Various weapon buffs

Other We are looking into increasing the effectiveness of various weapons and structures including Pillboxes, AT Rifles, Smoke Grenades, and Green Ash

Sorting
We are also adding a drop down menu exposing the stockpile sorting functionality allowing it to be toggled on/off. Let us know what you think!

Keep in mind that this is far from an exhaustive list and there are definitely other balance issues that are being addressed as well. If you would like to contribute to the conversation, be sure to leave us a message in this thread. One more unrelated thing I wanted to mention. Community member bblur from clan 101st was nice enough to organize a mini meetup at GDC last week. It took place at a gaming event in San Francisco. Stephan and I had a great time sharing drinks and stories at the meetup and really hope we can do it again next year! Cheers!

Foxhole: The Global Experience

@Leon Recently we discovered some amazing Chinese and Russian Foxhole communities. They have developed a lot of content like tutorials and fan art of their own.

These well-made tutorials are filled with amazing details. We can clearly see how much time and energy was spent in making these and we love that the community put this work into researching and studying things for other players. As the developers of Foxhole, we appreciate your dedication, and it also reinvigorates us to bring more high-quality content to our players. We realize that there will are more non-english speaking communities that love Foxhole out there. Our desire is to establish a better connection with all of them and hear from them. If they can cross the language obstacle, we should make more of an effort. Players speaking different languages from all over the world fighting shoulder to shoulder is always a picture we are dreamt of. I personally have been in the Chinese Foxhole community for some time, responding on the forums, and I will continue to remain available for contact! If any of you know or are part of these amazing communities around the world please contact us on our Discord! We want to know and serve you better.

That wraps up another Dev Blog. Be sure to check out our Foxhole Dev Stream for more information about upcoming features. If you have any burning questions you want answered be sure to tweet them to @Matt directly on Discord or Twitter, if your question gets selected it will be answered live on stream!

I wishlisted this one the moment I saw it months ago.

Somehow I feel like Foxhole secretly teaches its players selflessness.

I like the idea of building and harvesting for the benefit of other people.

I also heard that this game has a brilliant artillery mechanics.

Through the rabbit hole and to the other side, I wouldn't have known more about this game without this post.
