Final Fantasy VII is a console role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix), and the seventh installment in the Final Fantasy video game series. It was released in 1997 and is the first numbered Final Fantasy game for the Sony PlayStation video game console and Microsoft Windows-based personal computers; it is also the first to use 3D computer graphics featuring fully rendered characters on pre-rendered backgrounds. The game's story centers on a group of adventurers as they battle a powerful mega corporation called "Shinra", which is draining the life of the planet to use as an energy source. As the story progresses, conflicts escalate and the world's safety becomes the central concern.

Final Fantasy VII XP Patch History
1.4
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Changed the look of the installer as well as releasing German, French, and
Spanish versions of the patch. Have updated all the information and contact
details with the installation also. In addition to this, I have also updated
the readme file which you can access via your start menu. This patch now makes
a backup of everything now, so it is now possible to uninstall the patch and
have everything exactly back the way it was, so now there is no risk with using
our patch, it's 100% safe and reversible. And finally attempted a few more bug
fixes and added an update feature that you can access by going to Final Fantasy
VII on your start menu.
1.3a
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Increased sound compatibility further as now all versions of Windows XP (and
even 2000) have their sound drastically increased.
1.3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Added all the necessary samples to bring the sound aspect to perfection. As now
it used a GS standard with many more samples so it is now compatible with all
midis on the web, and not just Final Fantasy VII.
1.2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enhanced the sound even further with actual Final Fantasy VII sound samples
plus drastically reduced the size of the patch by abut 30MB. Although midis are
not very compatible now as only instruments actually used in FF7 are even
present.
1.1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Added sound compatibility, as well as boosted the sound quality slightly for
certain versions of Windows XP.
1.0
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address the crashes that use to occur due to Windows XP incompatibility with
FFVII.

that you have a Pentium 300 or better. Otherwise, please select one of the

to ensure that your 3D accelerator card has at least 4Mb of video memory.
For ATI RagePro users, please run in 640x480 Full or Quarter Screen mode. These
modes are faster than 320x240 Full Screen mode. A P233 or higher is recommended
for RagePro users playing under hardware mode.
For users of Matrox Millenium (not supported but can run in software rendering
mode), if you cannot run the FF7 Configuration program, please uncheck the Bus
Mastering box located in the PowerDesk settings in your Display Properties.

Game Controls under XP
If your Thrustmaster FireStorm Dual Analog 3 Gamepad or Microsoft SideWinder
Controls do not respond, go into Control Panel, and select Game Controllers.
Once you've opened the Game Controllers control panel, select Advanced... It
will now ask you to select a Control you wish to use with older programs.
Please be sure to select the control you desire to use when playing Final
Fantasy VII.
When you hand Sephiroth the Black Materia the game crashes, or after speaking
with Bugenhagen you cannot exit the scene.
These issues are created by a delay in the movie playback, causing the game to
crash. Run the FFVII Configuration (Start>Programs>FFVII>FFVIIConfig) and set
the video mode to "Software Renderer". Also set the resolution to 320x240. Then
play through the section of the game. When you have passed the trouble spot,
save at the first available save point. You can continue playing or exit and
restore the previous configuration.
The screen blacks out when a video is meant to be played
To resolve this issue you should of installed the Movie Player on your
installation disc as mentioned after patching Final Fantasy VII with the XP
Patch. Alternatively you can download the movie patch from Eidos at
