You are sent to war-torn Africa to assassinate The Jackal, a mysterious arms dealer who has rekindled conflict between local warlords, jeopardizing thousands of lives. In order to fulfil your mission you will have to play the warring factions against each other, identify and exploit their weaknesses, and neutralize their superior numbers with surprise, subversion, cunning and, of course, brute force.

Description

I backtracked over the map and added a few details, moved some objects, and added signs to point players in the right direction.

as in it is more noob friendly because i added the ******* signs everyone bitched about :P

seriously, if i said that any nicer i'd be ******** rainbows. :D

oh, i also made it a LITTLE easier to get around the snipers... :P just a tiny bit.

ok but seriously, yeah think of it this way:

players who are familiar with that map dont need the signs. players who are not familiar with that map are noobs.

im just saying you all need to play the map more often :D LOL

You were talking about wanting input on the thread...,
I played this a while back during the contest testing, and as always with me you'll get the general complaint that it's too big lol. I must say that it would be a good sniper map if you dig that kinda thing, everyone else suffers. The thing I would *try* to do would make all of the hot spots very difficult to snipe at (like adding lots of cover, or simply making some trenches or something like that. You may have fixed this already, but if I can recall your roads need a bit of work. That's probably what you would expect for complaints from me, but hey input is input right.

my roads do not need work at all, they are exactly as i want them to be: treacherous and harder to drive than to walk.

You've got me on the map size, i love big maps that you can get lost in. :P what can i say? it's more realistic.

But i like the idea of adding more cover and maybe even a trench of some sort... most of the hot spots are pretty well covered, but the routes between them are quite not.

Capture points C and A are better covered, but all three are quite exposed never the less. but the map was more designed for CTD anyways, so im probably not going to bother much with the capture points, but i think i'll open it up some time and have a go at adding cover.

Overall, it's designed for a full server though, so it will be harder to enjoy in emptier games unless you like to sneak around and/or snipe a LOT.

dont think of snipers as a problem with the map, think of them as a problem with the way you play the map! :D haha im so mean.

I have been toying around with an idea involving this map or it's variants, but specifically the physical layout and props...

I'm thinking of deleting all the ammo, mounted guns, vehicles and multiplayer objects and saving a "base" map, devoid of playable content, jsut a bare map.

Then i will start making smll variants of the map for each game type, and limited boundaries, drastically reducing the playable area, while still maintaining that sense of beauty and vastness.

For example, a game of Deathmatch would be restricted to the lower caverns under the cliff villages in front of the lake, while TDM would feature the inside of the mountain itself, and a game of uprising could have players scampering about the hill "island" in the middle of the map.

While i love CTD forcing the players to visit the full range of the map, it wouldprobably be best if i kept the diamonds nearer the lake. i think the UFLL diamond is great where it's at, but i'll move the APR diamond to the abandoned farmhouse or clay hut by the lake.
