You can play Fallout for months, but still it's not boring because of many ways of finishing the game. You can be a bad-ass gangster, or a world-saving hero. With nuclear apocalypse looming over the world, several vaults were constructed to contain the best and brightest of humanity. By being shielded from the imminent death, the offspring of these people could reclaim and repopulate the Earth. However, before the entire network could be completed, nuclear war broke out. One of the vaults became militaristic and technology-driven. Using their superior weapons, they were able to claim the surrounding wasteland. The members of this vault formed the Brotherhood of Steel, an organization dedicated to unlocking new and better technologies.

It's far from half price here: Cdon.no, but this is of course boxed retail. But their prices are better than what you can find here: Store.steampowered.com

install the package libpthread-stubs0, and start the game again.
and also just checked - standalone dosbox started just fine now
Unfortunately I could not find any packages with such name or containing such lib file inside for opensuse. I think that if the problem is this missing lib, it should be included with desura game package as they do for other games.
And by the way, what translations does it include? Is there a chance to see Russian translation here on desura?
Linux 64 bit, the game silently does not start - dmesg shows after each launch trial:
