The game's engine has now reached the stage where we can import BSP files, a format commonly used for FPS maps. We can now start to port our interior maps to the game. Here are six screenshots of Elite Force 1 BSP files used as test files running ingame.
These are not representative of the game's final quality. They simply demonstrate our ability to load BSP files from Quake 3 compatible games and nothing more. These levels are not yet lit properly and they have no normals, specularity or glows.
I think the article title is a tad bit misleading, as these aren't actually the ship interiors. Overall though its very impressive that you can get interiors into an engine specifically designed for the ship battles. I'm looking forward to seeing what you eventually do with this.
Hmmm, that's a smart move, now you could also make levels in for example Source.
Interesting, any reason for the BSP interiors? Aren't they always loaded into the cache? Also might restrict the way you design the game?
"Elite Force 1" aye I remember it well :)
good stuff
