The initial release of the DE Normal Map Generator has been done including the source distribution as well as two binary version for unix and windows.
The DE Normal Map Generator allows to create Normal Maps for the use in Game Applications or 3D Editors like Blender3D. Supported are the generation of Geometry Normal Maps (from Hi-Res Meshes), Displacement Maps and merging Detail Maps.
Features of this tool is the generation of Geometry Normal Maps by mapping a high resolution polygon mesh onto a low resolution polygon mesh. Those meshes are created in Blender3D and exported into the *.dim file format readable by the tool. In the same time the tool also generates Displacement/Height maps. Those are though still work in progress. Normals Maps can then be post-processed by merging Detail Normal Maps from disc onto the current Normal Map. A Pixel-Shader enabled preview shows the end-result directly in the tool.
