Empire in the Sky is an independently developed PC video game set in a stylized 1960s-1980s retro cartoon universe with blatant and extensive references to NASA and other "Space Race" icons. Much of the data is modeled after real life, so you might even learn something! This is the "lava lamp" of space RPG shooters! Travel the cosmos in a fully customizable spacecraft -- designed by you (or us). Fight or befriend scores of alien civilizations in your quest to rule the cosmos, while exploring a rich, procedurally generated world that includes planets, planetary bases, towns, cities and starbases. Build a nearly limitless and vast empire that stretches across hundreds of star systems, on thousands of planets! Empire in the Sky optionally lets you build your own starbases and planetary bases, and enhance your designs by crafting individual spacecraft parts.

AstronautThanks so much Desura users! Please keep the support coming and by all means try our free demo if you haven't already.

Empire in the Sky is my private joy to develop, but I want you to enjoy it as much as I enjoy creating it. I'm excited about our recent rankings and hope we can really show the world what the best of Indie entertainment has to offer. We feel that, as Desurites, we're part of a growing new platform that refines itself more each year. I've played many of the other games available for download for free on this site, and I've been surprised by each one.

However, we still feel disconnected from our audience. We enjoy the interactions testers and Desura community members have to offer, and we really value your support which is crucial to this project's future. If you have friends who you think might be interested in the game, encourage them to drop by and try it out.

So, this is an invitation for you to explore our offering and provide valuable feedback that will enhance both Empire in the Sky as a game and Indie Video Gaming as a community. Many of the tools developed by Lost Astronaut have useful sections made available as open source, so supporting Lost Astronaut enhances the computer gaming art-form beyond just one company or the people involved directly in Empire in the Sky.
