Inventory design #1
On this article we will talk about an important aspect of Dungeons of Asfore : Inventory.
In Dungeons of Asfore, there are tons of items to be collected and crafted through your journey. We spent some time thinking about how the inventory system for this game should be designed, specially the UI aspect. We finally designed a UI that fits the flow of the game and will help the player to easily manage their items.
As you can see, this menu has 3 major sections: Status, equipment and inventory.
At the moment, the status section is empty but it will feature all your stats information. In the middle, you can see the equipment section where you will be able to check your currently equipped items and manage them. And finally, the inventory section.
The inventory section contains 5 tabs, each one represents an item category so it is safe to say that there will be lots of items in the game (we have designed it so every item can be useful).
First tab is for consumable items such as potions that can be used to acquire different beneficial effects.
Second tab represents equipment in your inventory, there are different types of equipment pieces as you can see in the middle section. Crafting equipment is an important aspect of the game in order to face the deadly menaces inside the dungeons.
The third tab represents the key/important items. You cannot drop this items as they have an important purpose in sidequests or the main questline.
The fourth tab is for materials. You will want to collect as many materials as possible. They serve for many things such as crafting and mercantile purposes. Exploring dungeons and getting this resources from monsters drops or in the environment will be a rewarding experience.
The final tab stands for runes. Runes serve as power ups for your equipment pieces. These can add some special effects or bonus stats to your equipment and can make the difference between life and death in the battlefield.
Collecting items and learning how to manage them will be a crucial aspect in Dungeons of Asfore so expect more articles on this subject soon!
