Drakan: Order of the Flame is an action-adventure computer game. The game follows Rynn, a young woman with extraordinary martial skills, and an ancient dragon Arokh on their quest to free Rynn's younger brother from the evil sorcerer Navaros. The gameplay alternates between dungeon exploration and monster fighting when Rynn is alone and aerial dogfights when she mounts Arokh.

Description

This is All in One unofficial patch for Drakan: Order of the Flame and the editing tools, combining fixes from all previously developed unofficial patches and adding a lot of my own improvements, including better widescreen support, making the multiplayer component fully functional on modern operating systems and over modern internet and generally making the game more stable. Official 445 Patch must be installed before applying this patch.

Blimey ,it's a real tiny patch,only 1.7mb.(how times have changed :) )

So is it mainly widescreen fixes or have u added any other things?

So i need just the base game and this patch.
or do i still need to update with official patches?

Other than widecreen fixes, game crashes less, multiplayer games can be hosted on newer Windows versions (Vista and later) and the game should be normally playable over the internet in cases where it wasn't possible previously for some people because of routers, there are also some other minor fixes there, check the Readme for more details if you haven't.

Other than that, you must install official 445 Patch before applying my patch. There's also a discussion thread for this patch on Arokh's Lair forums.

nice thing to increase the fog distance. unfortunately the render distance is not increased as well, so the surroundings just appear in sight. this doesn't really make the game more enjoable. or am i missing something here?

Yeah, it's basically the same things as foghack code, but permanent. Someone over Arokh's Lair forums said you would have to modify the game levels in level editor to correct that. Some levels do look nicer out of the box without any modification.

But even if you modified the levels, it wouldn't be enough as the engine isn't optimized for long-distance rendering and performance would quickly get ridiculous. You'd need the game source code and someone with expertise in 3D engine development who could fix that.

Since the update from 13th October 2016, most of the game levels are updated for increased rendering distance.

Setting up dgVoodoo 2 wrapper with Drakan is recommended so that the performance doesn't suffer as much.

if anyone suffers from excessive brightness, here is the solution: just press ctrl+alt+del while ingame, then return to game. Helped on Win10

Maybe you have some strange program running in the background that interferes with something? AFAIK, Windows by itself shouldn't cause that problem.

I did notice that on recent NVIDIA drivers, which can be quite buggy, game would hang when attempting to alt-tab out and ctrl+alt+del trick solves it. At least that's what happens on my NVIDIA machine while it's fine on the other with AMD card.

Yes, I have nvidia, I dont have strange programs and see many other mention the same as my on another forum. Anyway it isnt a problem, because one ctrl+alt+delete kills that stupid brightness filter and everything is ok. And I checked on another repack - there no such problem

Your brightness problem is related to the fact that you must've gotten a repack of the game, which uploader included older version of dgVoodoo 2 wrapper with configured brightness of 200%. But because of the bug in that version, brightness goes even above 200% until you ctrl+alt+del.

This was eventually fixed in the later versions. This patch also went through some iterations, some of which had quite critical bugs, but all seems good now. It's just how it is with software in general.

10th Anniversary Mod is just about extra graphics effects and is kind of buggy. Definitely go with AiO Patch as it fixes a lot of bugs.

You can still use 10th Anniversary Mod on top of AiO Patch if you want, but if you choose to do so, you must apply AiO Patch after installing 10th Anniversary Mod because its installer messes up some critical game files.

Hello, thank you for all th4se improvements. I installed from original disk. Applied the 455 patch and then Ai0 patch. The game starts out great but I can not get a mouse pointer. It appears briefly and as soon as you click it it's gone. I looked for the em-exec in task mgr but it is not there. Please help, I love this Game.

I found a solution. Compatibility Mode Windows 8 and also select no dpi scaling. Let application do it

Glad it isn't anything more serious. It seems higher DPI settings sometimes cause issue with older games in general. So probably just disabling DPI scaling is enough, Windows 8 compatibility might be redundant.

Drakan.exe has been marked as high-DPI aware in recent versions, so manually disabling DPI scaling through compatibility settings is no longer needed.

I noticed that upon loading a save, the player makes footstep noise as if they landed from a jump. This causes the player to alert nearby enemies who were previously unalerted when the save was made. I wonder if it's possible for this to be fixed?

Theoretically, you could, it's tricky in practice though. Is this one of those bugs that occur randomly after some time? I was able to save while standing near a sleeping wartok in Grimstone Mines and reload without making a sound.

I remember another occasional issue; sometimes, when the game reloads the last save after you press a key on death fadeout screen, a sound from menu when you hover mouse cursor over a crystal starts looping continuously. Reloading from the menu makes it stop.

I experienced a couple of other issues:
- When I got the fire crystal in the Troll Caves, they counted as 2 in quantity in the inventory (can't remember if that only happened after I saved and reloaded or if it happened right when I picked it up). If I right click the crystal when my inventory is full, then the quantity is reduced to 1, which I assume is what it really should be.
- In the Grimstone Mines, there's a particular area where if I drop an armor piece, it disappears upon saving the game. I don't think it happened the first time I made a save in that area, maybe it only started happening once I destroyed the generator.

I don't have a save for the first bug, but I do for the second one.

Also, I forgot to mention that next to the doorway of the torture room, you should be able to see a bow there that I dropped and can no longer pick up again. I can't remember if it was also a case of saving "corrupting" dropped items or if it just bugged the moment I dropped it. I hope these cases of dropped items no longer being obtainable are isolated incidents, they're a real buzzkill.

Err, I guess the bug happens to both armor and bows and that the torture room is a problematic area like the area I highlighted in the map. I was also able to reproduce the bug with fire arrows, but not with the other arrows or the other items I have in that save.

Encountered another area with this bug. In the Grotto level, in the little secret ledge above the giant who throws a body at you, the one where you can find a skeleton and some ice arrows.

The level designer has set Fire Crystal in the Troll Caves explicitly to give player 2 crystals. The default value is 5, which is how many you get if you use the cheat to obtain it. The only programmatic bug I see here is that equipping Rynn with it using right-click makes it so that when you put the crystal back in the inventory, it doesn't add to its count if you have one or more crystals in there the moment you put it back. If you equip it with a double-click, it behaves correctly.

There seems to be many areas where armor magically disappears when you save. The areas affected appear to be constant, you can reproduce the bug without ever saving the game (try to get an armor at the beginning of Ruined Village with a cheat). I doubt anyone has a clue WHY it happens, I certainly don't. Maybe it happens where terrain (layers) in the editor is laid out certain way. Who knows, this game is weird.

I find it interesting how the save bug only affects certain items all the time and never others. Have you checked if certain item properties could be causing the bug? The bug always affects fire arrows, but not other closely related items, such as normal arrows, magic arrows and ice arrows. Maybe you could narrow down the source of the problem by comparing those items?

Is your newer patches compatible with previous versions? I used version 12/01/2015, then installed 12/28/2018 update and my savegame dissapeared, but i still can see it's files in game's directory. Couldn't find any notions about it in changelogs, so maybe there is any chance to make it work, or i should start from the beginning?

The save files are compatible, only the default location where they're stored/read was changed. You can move Saves folder to C:\Users\<your name>\Documents\My Games\Drakan

At least that's the correct path on modern Windows versions.
