Dominions II: The Ascension Wars is a turn based fantasy game in which you take the role of a pretending god. Each pretender is Lord and Master of one of seventeen cultures, each with its own individual strengths and weaknesses. With the aid of soldiers, mages and monsters you will conquer the lands of your neighbors in a struggle to become the one true god. This is an old game and it is now available for those who want some Dominions nostalgia or maybe just want to show their support for Illwinter Game Design. If you haven't played any Dominions game previously you probably want to start with Dominions 3 instead. (Go to Dominions 3 to find a forum where you can discuss this game and get technical support)
Dominions 2: The Ascension Wars is an epic turn-based fantasy strategy game unlike any other fantasy strategy title that you've ever played.

Quick Start Guide
This guide will help you getting started with your first game of the Dominions
2 Create a new God
First create a god for the nation of Ulm. Ulm is a good beginners choice as
they have powerful troops without many special abilities.
Make sure to spend as many design points as possible because you will not get
any bonus by saving them.
3 Create a New Game
Now you have to create a game. Select Ulm as human player and add at least one
computer opponent as well, otherwise you will win as soon as the game starts.
4 Play an Existing Game
Once you have created the game, select the Play an Existing Game option and you
will be ready to play your first turn.
After a few clicks you should reach the Map Screen. This is where you will
spend most of your time while playing Dominions II.
To the left are your 3 commanders. The first is a military commander that leads
a small army, the second one i a spy and the last one is your Pretender God.
Right click on a commander to view his or her stats.
4.1 Giving Orders
Give orders to your commanders by clicking on the Defend order right below
their icon, or hold your mouse over the commander and press space. More
keyboard commands can be found by pressing ?.
Movement works somewhat differently. Select a commander (makes him white) and
then click on a province on the map to make him move there. It is only possible
to move to neighboring provinces unless you are flying or moving inside
If you have a Pretender with magic skills you will probably want him to do some
magic research at the beginning of the game. To do this give him the research
order and then press F5. Here you can choose which school of magic you wish to
research. Right click on a school to see what spell will be available to you.
Most of the blast your enemies with fire spells are evocations, which should be
a safe bet if you want some useful battle spells.
4.2 Next Turn
Once you are finished with your turn, press the e key or the End Turn button at
the top right of the screen. Once you have exited the map screen press Host and
a new turn will be generated.
