In Disco Danger your job is to help Disco Dave and a collection of other equally delirious and dexterous dancers find their way across the dancefloor to a partner. Better hurry, you’ve only got so long before the song ends. That’d be bad, wouldn’t it? The dancers are particular about how to move. If you’re on the floor, you’ve got to move to the beat. The beat has a specific colour matched to it and the tiles of the dance floor will change in time with this beat. Disco Dave and co can only move onto a tile that has a colour that matches the beat. It’s the rules of the dance floor, you know.

Hey there everyone! So the release date listed on this page is for a scheduled updated version of the game, with more content and any changes deemed necessary to carry out. Such as a colourblind mode.
On Thursday is the initial release of the full game. It will be rather different to the beta, due to content patches and fixes that we have made.
For starters, the beta version has some issues with the animations. Most of them don't play, which is a shame.

Second, our testers have noticed a steep difficulty curve early on. I wanted the game to be fast paced, but clearly it was a little too fast too early. That has been adjusted and the difficulty curve re-balanced.
Third, some testers found it hard to tell when the colour pattern changed. They'd be focused on the game 'board' rather than the timer. The obvious fix to that is, of course, an addition of sound effects.

Implementing IAPs is a part of our assessment criteria. In the beta, there is one alternate costume for sale. In the full release there is going to be a few more. However, we don't want to force players to play as only one character from the get-go. So, there will be at least two costume that are free to use from the start of the game. This gives a player a little bit of freedom in their customization. Some options, so that they can enjoy their experience a little more.

Disco Dave Red Suite

Disco Dave black suite

Who knows, if enough people want it, we might even add some alternate costumes for the 'Goal' besides the two that exist.

Goal Male 1

Goal Female

Oh, talking a little about them, why are there two? One of my personal goals is to make the games I work on comfortably enjoyable by any individual. Sadly that wont always be the case, as thanks to the limited time frame, but there are a few little bits in Disco Danger that hopefully will count. The goal of the game, in the case of fluff/story, is to help Disco Dave/chosen player avatar to a dance partner. When I was first designing this part of the game, some individuals thought such a thing romantic or that the player character is only there to pick up chicks at the dance club. Fun quote from someone I asked about it.
Nah.
Non-romantic or anything like that. This is a game about dance and colours. The two goals being random, a male and female dancer, exist to say that; A) Anyone can dance, B) Romantic or otherwise the gender of your dance partner doesn't matter.

A bit of a tangent, but it is related to the design aspects of Disco Danger, and some things that may be added or updated in future updates.

The full release will be free to play and public to anyone who has an android device. Disco Danger scales to screen size, so playing on a tablet will be as easy as it is on a phone. The music matches the timing of the colour switching, so to fully enjoy Disco Danger, you will want to be wearing headphones. Of course, it's manageable without it but where's the fun in that?
Hope you all enjoy!
