Amusingly, given this new perspective, the ship the wreckage came from might actually be smaller than that cruiser parked there.

Very close in size, either way.

Sadly on realistic scenario there would be no wrecks because everything should have scattered while there is nothing to lower wrecks velocity after explosion.

actually it might have just broken apart which would leave you with spinning parts of a wreck. This one looks like bits of it have been blown away while other parts are still there, so maybe a bit of both?

or they where made out of some material that is kinda bonded or whatever and trys to stay together during stress so when it exploaded it pulled itself closish together b4 finaly dieing... thats sad

some people have wondered how big this wreck is, so here's a small crusier for scale.
I'd consider this wreck relatively small with limited resourses, techs and intel to exploit.
