Darkout is a sandbox, with strategy and survival components. One of the clearest influences present in the game comes from titles like Minecraft or Terraria, sandbox platformers where the player can build up facilities and modify his environment at will. But in Darkout there are some interesting points that make it worth to look at, starting by the importance that light has in the game. Hi Everyone,

So we’re currently getting the latest patch tested by our testers, and we have a few more small tweaks to put into the patch then we can release it to everyone.

We want to mention that we have changed the way research and research points work a bit from this coming Patch onwards. This is a pretty big change that took a while to re-code, and was effected by many interlinked systems in the game.

(Wiki people may explode cause of all the changes :)

Gaining research points

· These are gained from discovering new biomes
· crafting items
· gathering resources (points based on level of resource)
· Killing Shadow Enemies (points based on level of enemy)

Unlocking research
We have effectively 'removed' tiers where research now unlocks if you have
· discovered resources (mined/gathered the first time)
· found rare drops (chests, pods, etc.)
· researched items that are used as ingredients for items further down the research tree
General Guide
To research any item you now also need to consume the resources in its recipe as well as research points.

Suits now require you to ‘enhance’ the previous version, thus using it as part of the recipe to build the next level suit

It all is a pretty big change to the research system and we hope you guys progress better than the previous systems which was either too quick/slow to get higher level items.

The research bar is now used to ‘level’ your character since research now unlocks based on what you research, discover and craft. Leveling your character adjusts spawn rates based on the higher level biomes you enter, and also gives you a larger health pool. All this was built in before, since unlocking a tier also leveled your character. Now research should be more fluid, with you able to craft/research anything that is unlocked and any item that is marked in yellow still progresses the research bar, thus making things progresses your character further. The tiers on research items now only serve as an indicator for what the tech level of that item is.

Dark, out
