Conquest of Elysium 3 is an old school fantasy strategy game. You explore your surroundings conquer locations that provides the resources you need. Resources needed vary much depending on what character you are, e.g. the high priestess need places where she can gather human sacrifices, the baron needs places where tax can be collected and where iron can be mined. These resources can then be used for magic rituals and troop recruitments. The main differentiator for this game is the amount of features and special abilities that can be used. The game can be played on Windows, Linux (x86 and raspberry pi) and Mac OSX (intel and powerpc).

Just wondering, is there more to come or is the game pretty much dead? I think it's a game with great potential, but a bit unfinished (Unit descriptions, combat, too random). Can we expect an expansion or a COE4 some time in the future?

Illwinter has a long habit of supporting their games.
The previous (larger) game of Dominions 3 was released with 50+ nations and free patch/upgrades had it at 70+ last I looked. That is IN the game (not counting many modded nations). The patches also included UI fixes, new creatues, etc.

So far the patches on this game has added many user requests and 1 new nations.

But there are no posts about new released patches, aren't there? I didn't even know that a patch was released with a new nation. The point is, since Dom3 forum was moved to Desura it has more than 4000 posts while this forum is kind of dead. So why are people not interested? Probably because some key issues were never fixed. So, was CoE3 just a 'quicky' for Illwinter, or do they plan to work on it until it gets to Dom3 greatness?
I remember when I tried Dom2 first, looked at it and thought there's no way I'll ever like that game and uninstalled it. And then came Dom3 which somehow fixed the key issues (interface) for me and I suddenly got a really great game. CoE3 has a similar feeling that the greatness is held back by some key issues. For example, the Dom3 combat currently looks better than CoE3 combat which is kind of annoying since CoE3 is the newer game.

Well it wasnt created from scratch after Dom3. It is the CoE2 code with updates.

Actually we were told that CoE3 has sold more than all of the dominions combined. I dont think there is no interest. Most of the posts in the Dom forum tend to be MP games. Just like with the Doms, there are many people enjoying it in solo but unless they create something for it or have a question that is not already answered, there isnt much reason to create a login and post.

Well, since the Illwinter guys are doing that more as a hobby, they are probably not really orientating their work depending on the sales, but more on what they are motivated to work on and if they've enough time. I therefore wonder if they are currently working on a certain project or just enjoying their spare time.

It sounds like you're expecting major design changes like a revamped combat engine. From that perspective I'm guessing the answer is, 'No, the game is already done.'

This game will get some love and attention sometime in the future.

Once Dominions 4 has been published, that is.

Dominions 4 is under development and it has now got a web page here that hasn't got any useful information yet, but it will come.

Yes, combat screen is somewhere between "woeful" and "dreadful"... It really would be great that this amazing game will keep growing on when all this dust around Dom4 settles.

I would very much like a Dragon faction. It would sort of be like TK or Agartha in that you have strong starting units but rather then recruit a bunch more dragons you only have access to a limited quantity that can be upgraded like dwarves. Dragons would be able to collect the gems and blood (think of maiden sacrifice) and they can have the ability to raze farms/towns for an upgrade or something. It would be neat if they had multiple upgrade paths such as: Legendary Fire,Ice,etc drake Draco Lich Elder Dragon. Maybe have the ability to trade a bunch of gems and gold for magical item(dragons should have magical items in their hoard)

Would be very cool to start with a hatchling and groom it to young dragon, mature dragon, Legendary dragon (insert other awesome dragon.) Much like how you can watch your necromancer apprentice walk down the road of darkness and become a Demi Lich(should also be able to upgrade Demi Lich to Arch Lich IMO)

I think it has great potential and I would make mod like this if I had the skills.
