Delivering a visceral WWII gaming experience, Company of Heroes redefines real time strategy gaming by bringing the sacrifice of heroic soldiers, war-ravaged environments, and dynamic battlefields to life. Beginning with the D-Day Invasion of Normandy, players lead squads of Allied soldiers into battle against the German war machine through some of the most pivotal battles of WWII. Through a rich single player campaign, players experience the cinematic intensity and bravery of ordinary soldiers thrust into extraordinary events.
Here is the map titled Battle for the River Bed.
After a recent allied bombing campaign, a large dam on the Rhine River was destroyed. The flooding in the south was as equally as devastating as the river draining that occured to the north. However, with the draining came new opportunities for both sides. As new routes emerged in the clearing river, so too did the forces. Both armies have been dispatched and they have met at a small island town on the largest clearing. The scouts have been sent, the troops have been called, and the defenses have been erected. Now, the battle for the new "bridge" has begun.
The base locations are located on elevated terrains to allow for good base defense. The river bed, however, is full of obstacles such as rock patches and remaining water spots and large areas of "no-man's land." This open terrain allows tank battles, AT placements, and mg defenses against advancing troops. Located in the middle is a small town that unfortunately has been placed between the forces. The edges of the island provide for nice defense locations while the town itself gives players the needed close combat in most maps. Also, the resources will provide heavy battles there. At the bottom of the map is a large area of resources located around a stranded barge, so that if you cannot secure the town you can secure the "Water."
