Hi folks!
A lot is going on in the development of Commander this week!
I started creating new levels and I realized that the battlefield (a 1280x720 pixels area) is too restrictive for more complex ones. The actual size is perfect for tutorial levels though. So I decided to expand that battlefield and I'm currently fixing all the glitches that this decision created. I also revamped my camera system so now it follows the player. I'm still not sure how I will handle the camera in multiplayer but this is a problem that j0d1 from the future will handle graciously. You can watch me create a quick level with this new feature here.
Speaking of multiplayer, I decided to dive deeper in that direction as I think it would be totally awesome to be able to play 4-players coop matches over the network. This is still an embryonic idea though. I'm currently talking with my programmers friends about the challenges involved.
The next update of Commander will be available on November 5th (Saturday). It will include (at least):- new sound effects;- more levels in the first world;- a new camera system that follow the player in bigger levels;- bug fixes and new ones ;)- the "how to play" menu filled with useful information.
You can support the development of Commander by playing the demo and giving me feedback. If you like what you see, you can join the Alpha program and get access to the latest build.
