The first gameplay video for Civitatem is finally here!

Posted by on

It’s been quite some months since my last dev blog, but that will change during the next weeks/months since we are only 3-4 months until the release of Alpha 1. I recently released the first video, a teaser to show a bit of gameplay, and i’m planning to release more in the next few weeks, showing more detailed gameplay, features and probably create a Let’s Play as well.

For those that want to support the game early i decided to open the Pre-Orders page. By pre-ordering now you will be able to name a villager, access the upcoming closed tests and previews, DRM free copy and Steam Key on Early Access release in Q1 2018.

Well yes, Banished is medieval city builder too, so of course they are gona be some similarities:) Future videos and blogs will give you a more clear idea where the similarities end.

I hope so. It's an interesting concept of a game, but if it's too close then Banished does have workshop support and 3D graphics. Good luck with the game though, I hope it comes out unique.

This looks like rimworld medieval style (not a bad thing), what will set your game apart from rimworld? Why should I buy this game?

Good luck with the project.

Rimworld from what i remember, its more of a simulation of a sci-fi small colony, with a tile based building like in minecraft. Civitatem aims to be more of a classic city builder, where the similarities with Rimworld are that villagers are important (and have skills) and that is has random events, the rest it goes on its way with its own features similar to other city builders, but with enough new features and new approach to classic features, to make it on its own.

From the gathering the resources, construction, the approach on needs and reactions, diplomacy, research, crafting, exploration up to combat, things are quite different. It might be similar to some games, but thats a given in these type of games.

P.S. Before Rimworld, Prison Arhitect used this style of graphics, but people though it was the other way around...so now when they see a builder or something similar, bang! Rimworld:)

P.S. Played Rimworld in Alpha 4 i think. Its a good game.
