John Chaser, the game's main character, awakens on board the spaceship H.M.S. Majestic. He does not know who he is, what he's doing there, why he is being sought by men in black uniforms and what they will do to him when they find him. The player's goal in the game is to find out who Chaser really is and why he is being hunted. The story leads the player from the H.M.S. Majestic to the fictional Montack City on Earth, then on to Siberia, and finally to Mars, where the trail ends and hopefully the truth can be found.
There has been quite some time since last information of Freedom for Mars developement. It’s unfortunately very demanding work and I still don’t have as much time as I need. And I’m still not able to estimate the finish date of the project. Nevertheless the work continues even though slowly. In order to correct the neglect of this page I bring also another video with new information.
One of my goals which I have set during Freedom for Mars developement is to create the best ingame videos possible. Thanks to it I want to higher the level of my Chaser maps to get even closer to original Chaser. Correct camera behavior and convincing animation of all characters in the scene is time demanding process. It’s even more difficult due to the fact that it’s unfotunately not possible to add new animations. But there is very large database of movement animations which authors used in the game videos.
Chosing the right animations and using the precise timing can lead to very nice in-game videos with natural chracter movement. In order to achieve that it’s necessary testing the animations over and over again and also to create list of all existing animations with short labels. And it’s several weeks work because Chaser contains myriad of such animations. There is no other way to find out what is the purpose of each animation. The result will be very useful list of all animations in the game. This will be helpful for letter developement.
In a previously mentioned video you can see an example of what can be done with cameras and characters animations. This video invites you to the secret rebel base. Halls and interiors look like the ones from flashbacks of Chaser memories although a little bit changed and more detailed. You can compare the new look of the given places with the former one. Or simply watch and enjoy beatiful atmosphere of this enigmatic complex somewhere on the Mars. This former mining colony has exceptional and remarkable look.
Video is created in 60fps. Please use one of the Internet browsers which supports this speed (for instance Chrome). It's also possible to download the video from Chaser.cz and experience it in the best quality possible (YouTube downgrades quality of some videos in order to increase the speed of streaming). The download link is here (1,4 Gb).
I hope that you are pleased by this small trip to rebels especially if you are one of those who are unpatient to play this addon. It’s possible that it would be necessary to wait for development news for a some time. It doesn’t mean that the development is stopped or even cancelled. Of course the work continues although not so fast I assumed at the beginning. Please be patient and stay tuned, I really appreciate your support. And feedback, ideas and suggestions are always welcomed.
