March, 2047. A massive nuclear fireball explodes high in the night sky, marking the dramatic beginning to the Third Tiberium War. The infamous Kane has returned to lead the Brotherhood of Nod in a massive global assault on the Global Defense Initiative and the few remaining Blue zones left on the planet. Only you can stop him. The fate of humanity – and the planet – is in your hands.
it was better then cnc 4 and thats for sure :P
The only bad thing about this game is that you cannot build GDI or NOD walls, towers, bunkers etc. That would be awesome if modded but i cant find one of yet. The graphics, game play and units are all quite great. Id have to say this is one of the best C&C games to date. If only I could get the kanes wrath expanstion from somewhere....
This is by far one of the best RTS games in the world. A crown jewel in the C&C Collection.
I have played a lot of RTS games and many just limit you hard core whether by 200 unit limits with some units taking up 7/200 and having to build stuff just to even get to 200/200. This game is not that. If you like just all out war then you'll probably love it. Despite the aged engine it runs on it looks amazing to see an army tear through the enemy base in all of its glory of massive explosions.
Just found my new favorite strategy game! Fun singleplayer and mostly well balanced multiplayer make this a must have for any RTS fan
i bought this game with my money and its expansion 3 years ago back then it was awesome and even now its one of the best rts games out there
Still, in 2022, together with Kanes Wrath, one of the best RTS's out there. Gameplay is uniquely well-done and can be very varied, in part due to not having unit cap unlike Starcraft, which allows more different playstyles on different (especially custom) maps (in particular, very big battles with hundreds of units). Soundtrack is wonderful and fits the atmosphere perfectly. Story is good and has interesting twists. Features FMV cutscenes with great cast which helps presenting the story (and was recently found to be a good meme material :) ). Graphics is decent even by modern standards. Good modding and map-building tools available. All in all, everything is thought-out and well-executed. The only downside is that its original GameSpy servers for multiplayer are closed, and generally the game is pretty much abandoned by EA (unlike Starcraft 2 by Blizzard), but luckily there is community-made C&C:Online which embeds into original multiplayer GUI, is pretty stable and has all functionality (including stats), and generally the community is still alive creating mods, maps, even balance patches regularly.
Tiberium Essence is my favorite mod of all times. Really; it makes the gameplay of CNC3:TW a new experience. I had some experience playing Tiberian Sun, and I remembered some of the units; and missed a lot of those units, or their so to say descendants from CNC3. Especially missed the Nod artilleries, the GDI walkers, and the Hover MLRS-s. This mod brings forth a new set of units, that I can truly say are the descendants of the units from Tiberian Sun. Most of the campaign missions can be played with the mod too, which makes it amazing, and the skirmish AI doesn't seems to have a problem with the new units at all; which is also a benefit. I especially like how the new units balance the gameplay; they give both sides everything they would need, like a mobile repair platform, in different forms, without giving me the feeling that someone just copy-pasted one unit into the arsenal of both sides. Truly a great mod, I love playing with Tiberium Essence, and recommend everyone to give it a try.
FANTASTIC GAME!
the expansion improved on it.
only thing i hated were the cliffhangers leading to the crap of C&C 4
WOW!
