This image is still just a preview while I continue to work on new leg armour. You may notice right now he shares the same legs as the samurai.

Heres a peak at the new armour parts being created:

I know this had been brought up before, but it really shouldn't be called 'Medieval Warfare'. The term Medieval is extremely Euro-centric and trying to shoehorn any other regions history into a mold set in Europe is a dubious prospect at best. That isn't even talking about the fact that by the late 15th/early 16th century (I assume this mod concentrates on the Sengoku Jidai) Europe was out of the Middle Ages so applying the term to Japan in the same time period makes even less sense.

Though ironically Japan was probably a purer example of true feudalism than anything that ever existed in Europe. So why not 'Feudal Warfare'?

It is a mod for Chivalry: Medieval Warfare and thus they decided to call it Bushido: Medieval Warfare.
They could also have gone for Chivalry: Feudal Warfare or as you (and I) would probably prefer Bushido: Feudal Warfare.

The thing is though, that they somehow might need (or want) to keep a tie with the game on which it is based in order to remind people that it is a mod.

Maybe one of the devs would like to share his/her opinion?

I agree - the name is there to tie the mod to the game. Bushido : Medieval Warfare I think will get more people to recognize that it's based on Chivalry Medieval Warfare.

Pretty much this ^ Tho nothing is set in stone and this has been talked about already. Internally we're all just calling it bushido, we never expected people to feel so strongly about the tagline but it's something we'll keep in mind. (Bushido: Feudal Warfare is my fav alternative too zeroc)

We've been working on our own website and should have something in the coming weeks/ months to start building our own community around, at that time we'll have far more to show and will open up more ideas to the public on our own forums for feedback etc.

Thanks for the support and suggestions tho everybody! :)

Hi Satrenko! Yep, as per our 'Class' post the Warrior Monks are officially known as Sohei- its just easier to call them Warrior Monks as everyone knows what that means :) !

I love the Sōhei so much. Intellectuals, bred with warriors. Devout men of Shintoism, blessed by Bishamonten himself. I cannot wait to use the Sōhei in this mod. If you are not indisposed, can you tell me and everyone here what playing the Sōhei will be like? Will he be fast paced but weak? Will he be a powerhouse behind his Naginata? What other weapons do you intend upon developing? The Kanabo? The Tetsubo? I love this Sōhei quite a lot, and his garments are incredibly well-done, as-is the headwrap. Thank you very much for making Chivalry a game I actually feel like playing, also thank you for your time while developing this mod, and I wish you great success and hope to see Bushido released soon. Thank you VERY much for your work.

Thanks for the kind words and feedback!

The Sohei will be an offensive oriented class, they will be a bit faster than the samurai but obviously lacking the protection. Due to this they will have many polearms and perhaps a couple of swords. While researching ancient Japanese weaponry I found that the Sohei used a lot of farming tools as weapons - expect those to make an appearance also.

We have developed a ton of weapons and have done a lot of research into authentic weaponry. Because of this we have been able to develop a huge selection of weapons (far more than we have shown on here so far) to cater to both base weapons and unlocks, as well as side arms. The Kanabo/ Tetsubo is most definitely included.

Thanks again for the support!

Thank you VERY much for your swift reply. I am glad to see such a devoted developer of such a fine mod. I am glad to hear this. I love the Kanabo and Tetsubo. What will his sidearms be? The Katana, or Tachi? Or will he use Kama? Because I love the way the mod is coming along, and I was just curious as to what the Sōhei would be using as a secondary. I should have asked in the first post to save you the trouble of replying to another comment, but I could not help myself. I am both captivated AND excited. Great work, yet again. Thank you again for such a swift reply.

Thanks! His sidearms will likely be along the lines of katanas & tantos. The Tachi will only be available to the Samurai class.

No worries @ asking questions - we encourage it! It's always good to see what people who will be playing this want to see - please feel free to ask away!

We've been building our own website, so soon we'll have a much better way to receive feedback and suggestions as well as discuss what we already have planned! Stay tuned :)

Cheers

Great. Once again, I am sorry for asking so many separated questions. That is great, the Tanto sounds great. If I can recall correctly (It has been quite a while since I have decided to launch Chivalry) the Vanguard has a throwing knife, do you intend on giving the Sōhei some Kunai, or do you intend on cutting out that throwing weapon out all-together? Also, do you plan on giving the Sōhei a wakazashi as a replacement for the Katana, just in-case you feel like using a decent short-sword in-place of a longsword or dagger?

No need to apologize, we appreciate the feedback! And yes they will have throwing weapons, most likely Bo-Shuriken/Senbon although we do have a wide range of these weapons crafted so it's just a case of seeing what works best :)

Also I'm not sure as to the Katana/ Wakazashi, it will be one or the other tho :) (The Samurai will definitely have access to both)

That's great. Thank you again for your diligent response. It is respectable and admirable. I am glad to see we have a wide-array of weapons to choose from, and thank you again for your assistance.
