Black Talons is a real time tactics game set in the future, where the player leads a company of mercenaries stuck in a war torn star system. The player leads his forces from a battlecruiser where new troops and mechs can be recruited, trained and customized. As the commander of the company, the player must decide which missions to take, and carefully manage his reputation amongst all the existing factions.
The Noctae Republic was a democratic regime on the planet Genai.
Enjoying good relations with all their neighboring planets, the Noctae never invested too much in their military, keeping only a small, highly-trained military force – the Noctae Guard - strong enough to garrison the planet.
As a member of the United Space Federation, this was more than enough to ensure the planet’s security. But after the Gark War, the USF lost most of its power and influence and the stronger and more militarized worlds began preying on the weak.
When the Tzanar Union arrived in the system, it immediately launched an assault on Line, overwhelming the Noctae Guard and the planet’s paramilitary forces through sheer numbers.
The remaining units of the Noctae Guard are fighting an organized resistance against the Tzanar invaders.
