Failed Kickstarter
The kickstarter did not meet its goal. I documented my descent into bitterness in a day by day journal, which I will put onto GamesIndustry.biz at some point. I have tried to kickstart two projects now, both of which have failed and I'm kind of glad they did. I didn't like what I became when I did the kickstarter. I was resentful of all the other games that were successful while mine petered out after a few days. I decided to just work on BCD!? in my free time and release it when the game was ready.
Bears Can't Drift!? is not dead.
Wow!
Glad to see you're still working on this project. In my opinion it has come a long way since the kickstarter version.
I know you switched to UE4 and all but it's more than just a new engine and graphical improvements, it feels a more fast paced and the levels feel very creative with hollow logs and a waterspring for instance. If I'm not mistaken you're considering adding game mode(s) other than racing. That is something the Kickstarter didn't mention. Some fun party modes would make it a very interesting title.
I can tell you have talent, keep up the good work. :o)
Thank you for your comments! A lot of the improvements are down to the less restrictive platform. The new game has post process effects and adaptive FOV which couldn't have been done on the old system. I'm hoping to implement various speeds based on selected difficulty as well!
