The Battlefield franchise enters a new era equipped with more firepower, modernized weaponry and vehicles, and a deeper infantry experience from the jungles to the beaches of Vietnam. From villages on the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the city streets of Hue wage modern warfare as the United States or North Vietnamese Army (NVA).

Description

These are patched files for the BfVietnam game executable/application and Battlefield Vietnam Server Manager 2.01. There are many important but also neat features that have been patched for the game. Below you will find instructions on how to install the patches. I have also provided a README file that has some important information.

Sounds Cool, but what does it do? What does it add/fix?

Thank you for asking!

Basically it changes the server browser list to use the new OpenSpy one rather than the older Q-tracker one and has all of the Team SiMPLE patches as well. I debugged the application to unlock some in game commands you would only be able to use with the debugger (which I can’t even find online anymore). I haven’t been able to get all commands to work but I got some of them working. It’s also worth mentioning that the application is patched to use 255 max bots in coop mode and I have provided a game.rfa file that sets the max amount of bots to that.

There’s some more info the readme file when you download it. I’m thinking of putting that info on Moddb to make it more clear.

Doesn't work right off the bat without the modified init.con, LevelCheck.con, and Mod.dll that were provided with the original patched exe. Please include them if you can.

I have one suggestion, if it's possible for you to fix. When I play any mod that have option of iron sight aiming/shooting on resolutions above default created in BF Vietnam, like 1600x900, 1920x1080 etc... weapon starts to have some twitch widening and narrowing while shooting. And also soldiers, vehicles and everything looks narrow on higher resolutions, comparing to default Battlefield resolution. Is there any chance of fixing that problem?

Thanks!

Hey Laufer, thanks for the comment.

The first issue you encounter is a known bug in BF Vietnam and as far as I am aware I don't know a fix available for it. Surprisingly, BF1942 does not have this issue so maybe it could be something that I can figure out and fix. For your issue with higher resolutions, I'm not sure why things should be very narrow. I play in a 16x9 aspect ratio and everything looks normal to me. If I can think of a solution ill let you know.

Hi LuccaWulf,

Thanks for you answer. I have one "solution" that i figured out, by accident. But that's quite temporary one. I start the game, put default resolution for example, 1280x900, start some mission, then in the middle of mission, I go again to Options/Video and change resolution to 1920x1080 and that problem is gone, and everything looks wider...like in BF1942. But you have to switch resolution non-stop in that way, so you can overrun the problem.

I wish you luck in finding some solution!

It seems, the executable does not contain the 4gb patch. Maybe you forgot to apply it?

I did, my apologies, I added an application in a newer version so people can apply it themselves if they want to. Thanks for bringing this up.

Fantastic; I've just reinstalled BFV. Been playing it, on and off since its release. Spent the last several days testing all the SP maps. I'm going to buy copies (via eBay to send to friends for Christmas and hope we will be able to play lots of the Coop maps together.

Hey ! I hope I'm not disturbing.

This fixed my game not launching (hurray !)

Though I have the same problem I had witth 1942 : crossairs and a few other menu elements are not showing up ingame, I fixed it thanks to a fan made patch in 42 but sadly this patch is not enough, do you have any idea?
