3089 is a futuristic, procedurally generated, open-world action role-playing game. All terrain, enemies, weapons, items, quests & more are uniquely generated. You are a promising robotic android design, made by the Overlord, placed on planet Xax. Your performance in common combat, support & intel scenarios is being closely watched. However, will you become too much for them to handle? What else on planet Xax exists that the Overlord doesn’t know about?

  1. Once the player steps inside the tower, make a check to see whether the boss is alive at the top or not. Either show a message to warn in case the boss isn't there or spawn him. This should take care of the problem of towers without a boss.
  2. Make towers a bit more common. 25% increase in spawn chance?
  3. Make some towers scored runs. This way, the player may get more or less skill points based on his perfomance, rather than a fixed amount that is way less than questing. Gold, Silver and Bronze scores of skillpoints. The skillpoints rewarded would follow something like this: Bronze = Tower Level (TL), Silver = TL * 2, Gold = TL * 3.
    Examples of score towers:
  • "Stealthy Tower", where each undetected kill is worth twice a normal kill (10p) and being detected loses you some points.
  • "Hostage Tower", where there are some red robots that don't fight and, the more alive, the bigger your final score.
  • "Killer Tower", run'n gun galore. Kill everything as fast as you can; less time = higher score. These towers should have the highest number of enemies.

As a note for point 3, perhaps it would be best to have a interactive totem, like a questing one, just outside the tower, informing its type (maybe make it random each time the player finishes a run) and score-skill rewards. If the player decides to run it, only then are enemies spawned inside.

4 - Arena building. An open area with spikes/columns at the corners to identify it on the map, where the player can activate it and fight to win skill points. Each arena can have from 3 to 5 rounds. Each round the player fights at least one robot equivalent to a tower boss. Skill point rewards would vary with the number of rounds fought: arena level (AL) for 3 rounds, AL*1.7 for 4 rounds and AL*2.5 for 5 rounds. So, a level 10 arena would give either 10, 17 or 25 skill points. Since this would be a lot faster than towers or questing, the skill reward should be lower than those.

Interesting ideas... I like the "Hostage Tower" idea, wonder how it'd be implemented though to keep red guys from getting into fights or being attacked (give them no weapons)?

Spawning without weapons or making the tower enemies being seen like "kill" targets, as in like when a quest sends you to kill a specific enemy, your non-follower allies won't attack them.
