3089 is a futuristic, procedurally generated, open-world action role-playing game. All terrain, enemies, weapons, items, quests & more are uniquely generated. You are a promising robotic android design, made by the Overlord, placed on planet Xax. Your performance in common combat, support & intel scenarios is being closely watched. However, will you become too much for them to handle? What else on planet Xax exists that the Overlord doesn’t know about?

Overlord towers. Love them or hate them, there's no denying that those turrets spawning around/behind blind corners and in those alcoves can mess up even the most cautious run, the tankiest tank-droid or the sneakiest stealthbot.

My usual tactic had been to get my ultra-killy-massive-pwnage-shoot-everything-in-sight general purpose rifle and spray explosive bullets into them as fast as i coudl possibly spamclick, but of course that's not always going to works and I lost more than a couple of good gun components that way. Sometimes you can line up a shot on the corner of the turret where they can't see you back, but other times you have to go head-on.

Or at least, that's how it -used- to be. Now, it's quite easy to grab a lob-based launcher and bounce lovely big bombs down the hallway to clear out turrets and deal significant damge to groups of robots. This tactic did work before 0.92, but the range was VERY short. Now, you can use it right along the length of the longest possible coridoor :D

I like to use an energy launcher for 'recon by fire' now, so I can clear suspicious rooms by firing in through the windows. It's not just good for Overlord towers, it's also great for bases and even caves - if you're worried that there's an enemy waiting to ambush you, then you can 'test the waters' for the cost of a small amount of energy. Of course a radar will do even better for finding enemies, but that doesn't mean you won't want to use the launcher to deal with whatever is there anyway; and if you don't want to spend any parts (especially if you already suspect there is/isn't an enemy there) then it only costs energy :)

Hm, I'll have to try this myself as well; I hadnt noticed that the lob-based launchers had their ranges increased.

My usual tactic in towers is to just charge at each turret and just stab it over and over.... yeah, there's no way to make that "tactic" sound smart at all. But I'm impatient, and the things dont move, and they're usually going to shoot me anyway.....

You see, the thing with this tactic was that I developed it solely because I could never take the turrets on in a "fair" fight - I always got massacred by their firepower :dead:

Explosive Rifle. Aim at the ground next to the turret, and don't peek all the way around the corner. Slightly more reliable than bouncing launcher bolts at weird angles.
