-NOTE-
This text is from my blog that i made about few hours ago, i decided to make a tread because most of people wont read this because:
1. They probavly dont know me
2. I dont talk much with people on moddb
3. Iam "new"

I discovered one interesting console, its Zeebo and its first console of Zeebo incorporated...The creation of this console was for about one or two years after final version and many companies like ID software,Namco,EA and many other companies wanted to publish games so Zeebo will have many games in next years if the interest comes and if there will be a world wide console!

En.wikipedia.org

Zeebo is an special console, it uses BREW for the "OS" and it plays only JAVA games...
It dosent use catriges or discs, it uses 3G,2.5G and 2G network if needed to download some java games.
Zeebo has about 30 to 50 games and its currently in Brasil and Mexico but in future it will be in India and Russia also by 2011 it will be in China but there is posibility if AT&T makes contract with ZeeboINC and maybe it will come in North America,Australia,Europe and Asia in the way that it will be probavly avalible in most countries of the world!

If Zeebo makes a contract with AT&T then if you got a Zeebo and you are using 3,2.5 and 2G network you will not have costs of downloading contest but you will still pay some games and the list of new games to buy and download will be bigger...The console costed about 250$ at beggining becuase it was new and they dint know who will buy this console but after some time the price has gone been lower and its now 100-150$ and PS2 was more expensive then Zeebo at beggining and it was the same price as Wii at that time...

Due tehnical limitations there arent much new games, mostly ports and versions for this console but there are some good old clasics and some cool games!

MUST PLAY: Quake 1,Quake 2,RE4,FIFA 09Tekken 2 and Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D
MUST BUY : Rally Master Pro,Galaxy On Fire and Crash and NFS:Own The City(AKA Carbon)

Watch this video:

Even its the first Zeebo Incorporated console and lacks of some features and other things but its they first console and atleast they dint make most of mistakes that has made by SEGA !But even if it got some great games there are some bad games but due limitations and most of people do not know whats Zeebo and due slow expanding to other countries it may fail and by stronger consoles it will slowly die or in Asia it will be crushed by bad copies of Zeebo that will suck and chinese stuff will rule the world and one super low quality nuke will explode because some dude touched the top of the head and huge big Kaabbooooooommmmmmm...

Well i hope that they will make a stronger version and that upgrades will be minor and that we will pay small price for upgrading the console :DZeebo system
specifications:

  • ARM11 / QDSP-5 running at 528Mhz
  • ATI Imageon (renamed to Adreno by Qualcomm after buying ATIs Imageon Designteam & Chipdesign)

Operating conditions:

  • Temperature: -20°C to 55°C (-4°F to 131°F)

I hope that there will be many ports of old games from PC and maybe Half Life 1, its actualy posible because an very old game and with javas posibilities without losing much quality and good file size compression it will rock in one way. Hitman Codename 47 is posible if they remove ragdoll if that reduces performance :D

Thx if you read my second blog on my profile, comment it if you want !!

-Aditional Note-
EA,ID Software,Namco,Activision and many other companies was interested in this console that they invested Zeebo...(Its totaly true)
Zeebo Incorporated have or will sign the contract with AT&T and it will make greater progress in world "domination" (like cancer or zombie infection spreading)
Zeebo has no DVD,CD,Cartrige or Tape to load and play games but it uses 3/2.5/2G network and downloading buyed contest of the game is FREE!!
In Mexico Zeebo has a keyboard and connection to social networks and internet is limited by choosen side of goverment of Mexico (I think)
Best Games: Resident Evil 4,Galaxy On Fire,Rally Master Pro 3D,Zeebo Extreme,Quake 2 and Need For Speed - Carbon : Own The City (All games are in J2ME)

!-IMPORTANT-!
If you dint read carefully then read this! Zeebo is an console that plays only games in JAVA format and correctly is J2ME and the console purpose is mostly ports and remakes of games. Other companies that invested will probavly make some remakes, also maybe ID Software will make Q3:Arena and Doom 3 for Zeebo because its posible also if Valve gets interested then Half Life 1 will be probavly working and it would be bad it Hitman Codename 47 would be on Zeebo.

My Opinion:
I dont own Zeebo but i think that i already since i heard the name and see the games i already become Zeebo Fanboy!
Iam from Croatia and i hope that Zeebo will be in Europe so i could have fun, i always loved mobile phone games :D

I absolutely love the idea of a J2ME console- it'd mean that it would become an open console and be very supportive of homebrew and indie games.
Sounds great and sounds like its got good backing.

I think though only focusing on emerging markets is a very bad move. Bring the console into the mainstream, this is how sega turned from a small time console developer into a full fledge console giant in the 1990s- they fucked up with the Dreamcast because it wasn't designed for the West, rather designed purely for a Japanese auidence that wanted the Arcade gaming- a flaw in their marketing and RnD because Nintendo and sony had already capitalized on the concept of the "console" genre- the scope needs to be greater than just one region or market else they won't make anywhere near the sort of money that they could.

Zeebo will shock gaming world if there are some good titles!

I think if there are in here some persons that can make games for java consoles(mobile/cell phone and Zeebo ofcourse)...
Zeebo is an unique console and its for poor people but it has quality and when some games that will be released soon like Armagedon Squadron or Iron Sight then il hope that Sega will help with some games and also that ID Software make Doom 3 for mobile/cell phones, i mean like fps with real movement and it will just need to be optimized, less polygons and that stuff. The console wont die, it has been financed by ID Software,Namco,Capcom,EA,Activision,FishLabsGames and many others and Zeebo will have toons of games if the market gets bigger, this year Zeebo will come in Russia and India and next year in China!

But also the contract with AT&T will probavly open markets on all continets and almost in all countries!

Well they shouldn't ignore the first world. It'd be an extremely huge marketing flaw if they did. Everyone knows that the modern day successes of console manufacturing have been only because they were Multi-National, and its this very reason Sega got pushed out of the market. In countries like Australia, US and UK I could see it working as a casual gaming platform- and a great competitor against the Wii.

Not true, this is just what Elitist Hardcore Console Gamers think. The Wii proves otherwise. The casual audience would easily eat a consumer product like the Zeebo up, why? because its cheap entertainment that isn't threatening. It's a very different industry now, you could get away with low quality graphics, no one would care.. they certainly didn't mind when the wii was released only to have worse graphics than both the PS3 and Xbox360.. but the Wii is infact winning out over them because the casual market is a bigger market.

Now I'm not saying Casual Gaming is a great thing. I dispise casual gaming.. but its a fad that has grown in popularity enough to be an exploitive market. Yes I do see casual gamers as nothing more than walking wallets.. if they had a problem with that then they should care about the games they play.

We've seen J2ME games and even Iphone games that look as if they were from the early 1990s be world successful titiles earning millions of dollars a month. Zeebo could easily be a faciliator of these games, that never get released on the hardcore platforms because of licensing and programming complications. The Zeebo cause it uses J2ME would be as simple as porting the game for a different configuration using the same language they already understand. Mobile developers would begin working on the console- the mobile market is pretty huge (I know because I work in it) and there's plenty of money there.. offering them a console that they already know how to use would be a gold mine to say the least. You could quite easily treat this as just another Mobile Platform yes.. but because its an actual console it can go above and beyond just another mobile platform.

I just want to say though, I dislike casual gaming. This is just coming from a business perspective. I'm NOT a fan of casual game design.

wow, nice reply...

But the problems are somekind of limitations and Zeebo is actualy for poor people, mostly gor Africa...
But then again some rich people would buy it because there are mobile/cell phones games and its small its totaly "mobile" so it dosent need alot of electricity!

The best games for now that i think are Quake 2,Resident Evil 4,NSF - Carbon:Own The City,Rally Master Pro(3D),Galaxy On Fire and Fifa 09 !!

Cyberpunk, how much compression is posible with java, lets say for exsample 500mb...So how much the size of 500mb can be reduced with java?
