Alright, its probably safe to be a little skeptical about this, so i'll keep posting updates as i hear more about it. Apparently someone has hacked the Steam database supposedly where all the credit cards are stored, although Valve denies that it hit the CC info. More information here |

Glad the credit card information I gave Valve was invalidated a few months ago and never updated since. |

And this is why I still buy those magical things called CD's. Sure, they may take up a little space...but hey, easier to replace a 50 dollar game than replace a few thousand dollars in stolen funds. -- <[[iframe]] src="http://gamercard.xbox.com/fallout81.card" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" height="140" width="204"> |

I don't think Valve will collapse lol. Once again, we don't know the clear details. Doug Lombardi spoke to CVG about it, and claims the hacker didnt hit credit card information. I know this is all messed up, but at the same time it was kind of expected to happen since steam afterall is one of the biggest digital distributors. I think anyone who bought steam games online should just keep an eye on your credit card history. |

That "MadoxX" character is annoying. If he hated Valve so much, he should stop playing their games, instead of harassing them at every turn. Valve said that they're looking into it, which is really all that their customers need to know. In other news, I sure am glad that I have only ever bought Steam games as physical copies. |

I read that if the Steam servers were all suddenly to go offline for some reason, steam games would still be playable (though not online multiplayer). Apparently they built that ability into the system, and successfully tested it. --
May or may not be taken out of context. |

Meh, I can't say I've bought a single game off steam that I'm likely to care about by the time that happens. At any rate once I've got them downloaded and installed I can play the lot of them in offline mode and steam can go to hell. |

Someone needs to expose Valve for what they are. But what will happen? Nothing. Valve will explain it away just like before. Why do people TRUST them? They've directly lied to the public before just to get ahead & look good, why expect anything else? -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

If you don't trust them, don't play their games. I have absolutely no reason not to trust them and will continue to play their excellent games which I very much enjoy. Lying to get ahead is part of the industry, and frankly has nothing to do with the quality of the software that they create. If you feel otherwise, cancel your Steam account; no one is forcing you to use it. |

It's a program for cybercafes... They can get licences and have several steam accounts so that people can play steam games when they go to a cybercafe. -- |

"There has been no security breach of Steam," Valve director of marketing Doug Lombardi told 1UP. "The alleged hacker gained access to a third-party site that Valve uses to manage the commercial partners in its Cyber Cafe program. This Cyber Cafe billing system is not connected to Steam. We are working with law enforcement agencies on this matter, and encourage anyone with more information to e-mail us at Catch_A_Thief@valvesoftware.com." |
