Project Name: VOID

Project type: Multiplayer PVP

Looking for: I am looking for a good 3D modeler, a UI coder and a Netcoder. Just DM me on Discord if you're interested about this project.

Myself Introduction
So here we are. On the presentation page. But first, let me introduce myself. My real name is Yan, I am 26 years old and I am from Quebec, Canada (so yes that means I speak normally French). I'm a gamer since my young age. I started with a PS1 and now I have a war-ready PC machine. I play all sorts of games. I like the creativity and the possibilities available with video games.

I've always been a space fan lover also. Needless to say that I am a SpaceX & Blue Origin fan. Space is so big, is so huge. And it's just getting bigger and bigger. I'm completely blown away by how far we need to push our technologies in order to explore and conquer other planets. This is where it's getting fun, we can create our own universe with our own rules.

The Project: Build mines, build storage, scout other planets then send the troops. We all know this song right ? In most of these types of game, the player cannot see fights happening. Basically, it's just a text game, take for example the good old game called Ogame. The concept is nice, but it's missing some features. How can't we see fights happening, and also, those are random results, based on an algorithm. I think it could be cool to have a concept like this but with real-time view of the space wars. So we are going to do a multiplayer Space themed strategy game similar to Ogame but better called: VOID. The concept is simple. You start on a Motherplanet, the main base of the player, which cannot be destroyed. There will be multiple planet categories like: Rocky, Ice Giant, Gas Giant, Gas Dwarf, Terrestrial, Infernal, Helium, Protoplanet, Desert Planet & Ocean Planet. Depending on which random category the player will have, he'll be able to see a different base background. There will be one or two basic starting buildings to help you, and there you go. You need firstly to build Mineral and Crystal mines, than a Tritium Extractor. There are four resources used in VOID: Mineral, crystal, tritium (energy), and antimatter.

Mineral is mainly used for buildings, Ships, Defenses. To get this resources he/she has to upgrade or build a forge.

Crystal is the second resource. Crystal is mostly used in research. Crystal is one of the hardest resource to obtain. It is obtained by building or upgrading a crystal mine.

Tritium is the third resource and can be obtained only from Tritium Extractors. Tritium is mainly used as fuel for a player's fleet to perform a mission, and for research.

Antimatter is a resource that can be bought with real money. If a user doesn't want to pay this resource will become the most rarest resource in the game. Antimatter can be found on expeditions with the players fleet after researching Expedition.

Energy is not actual energy you get from a mine but from solar planets and fusion reactors. Energy is needed to be able to run the mines to gather metal, crystal, deuterium, and to do research.

A list of how these resources are obtained:

Mining: Mineral mines, crystal mines and tritium extractors obtain mineral, crystal and tritium from one's own planet. The larger the mine, the faster the rate of getting the resources. Planetary resources never run out and can be continuously mined.

Raiding other planets: A player can decide to send an attacking fleet to an enemy's planet. If the player's fleet destroys all of the enemy's fleet and defensive buildings, up to 50% (depending on the cargo capacity of the attacking ships) of the enemy's stored resources can be taken.

Harvesting debris fields: destroyed fleets form a debris field around the planet it was destroyed. Debris fields consist of mineral and crystal.

Fleet Crashing: Stronger players can "fleet crash" weaker opponents, which is the act of destroying another player's fleet for the purpose of collecting the debris that remain after the battle and recycling the resulting debris (only mineral and crystal can be obtained this way) and 30% of all ship's mineral and crystal can be obtained in such a manner.

Trading: Players can negotiate a trade sequence where they swap different resources at an official rate.

Expeditions: Players can send their fleets out and get random things in return. These are risky, as there is a chance of losing your fleet or getting attacked by aliens.

All of those needs to be modeled, and we're not talking about spacecrafts & planets yet.

What we've done so far:
I've made myself an UI design (still needs to be coded) and a couples of songs and sound effects for the game. I also created a nice to do list to keep us organized.

Length Of project : The project has 1 month only. I estimate about 2 year for a playable version. We are using the Trello platform to keep our work organized as well.
