I don't know how many of you ever played the original Zelda LCD game. I certainly had one of these green beasts (more precisely my sister had it) back then and I'm not fond to see how it's milked to death. Same with Mario or Pokémon. Only good change has been the last Mario where they made Bowser fully playable. That has been something for a change. The rest is milking. That said Ninty is well known for milking their franchises extensively so you should not expect something else from them than YAMG (Yet Another Mario Game) ;)

I'd love a reboot of Zelda that is more than an randomly yelling blonde boy fighting a giant wizard.

I've played part of the original Mario, Super Paper Mario and Super Smash Bros. Never played any Zelda(But my sister has), Metroid, Pokemon, Sonic, ect. I guess I just haven't played many Nintendo games :P As for milking the franchise, of course that's what they're doing. Most big franchises do that until they screw one up so bad that it doesn't sell well enough to make another.

Just about every Zelda has been a reboot, that's one of the great things it has going for it. It's supposed to be a Legend, and legends are often told differently as they get passed on (like all the versions of King Arthur).

Yeah...

Aside from the most recent on with Link turning into a wolf, and the one where Zelda is a more pirate like tomboy, I've yet to see an honest reboot. The rest just eems like more excuses to reuse the same main characters over and over again....

Ninty is a bit special though in this discipline since they managed to screw up a bunch (if not all) of their franchises at least once but still manage to continue with it. Chalk it up to fanboys I guess. Every other company would have been stoned but not so Ninty. I really should figure out what kind of invincibility(necromancy) spell they are using... it seems to be a good one.

It's not just screwing up, it's screwing up so bad that no one buys the game(Or at least not enough people buy it). <--LucasArts is good at this.

Your posts are starting to lead me to believe your experience with games can't exceed six years. There's been three big Zelda lines in the last 15 years (4 soon), and even you seemed to note the difference between them (some may not even be reboots as far as the story goes if certain fan theories are true, but the change is still radical). Going from the OoT gen to the more lighthearted Windwaker line, and then to the darker and grittier Twilight Princess (and something tells me Skyward Sword will again bring a different feeling to things compared to the characters and mood in TP). The Zelda game we had prior to OoT didn't even feature Hyrule, Zelda, or the Triforce (nor did the game after OoT). There was even a time when Link's character was lazy and couldn't keep his mouth closed for 3 seconds.

And looked ridiculous.

I've yet to see an honest reboot. The rest just eems like more excuses to reuse the same main characters over and over again....

Rebooting a story doesn't mean throwing everything out the window and starting again completely from scratch. Going back to Arthur, off the top of my head I can easily think of 5 completely different versions of the legend yet they all include Arthur, Guinevere, Merlin, and Morgan. If you follow comics and look towards the upcoming DC reboots this year, don't expect Superman, Batman, and crew to be going anywhere either. The point is to basically retell the story, just under a different light or from a different angle. That way people don't need to know the previous decades of history in order to follow along (otherwise, trying to keep a story alive for that long leads it to be extremely convoluted with more retcons, fake-deaths, robots, clones, and time traveling than you can shake a stick at).

Poor, poor Battlefront...

The first time I saw that a few years ago, I couldn't stop laughing at how riduculous it was.

Thank God we have First Strike and that one indie game for the flight simulation revive we've been waiting for.

Also, just because I don't get Zelda (or most Japanese games besides Nier and Sou Calibur), doesn't mean I haven't played games for less than 5 years. I could just as well make the same claim if you hadn't played Lego Island, or Rogue Squadron on the PC (the former of which is still one of the best Lego videogames known to man). My opinion differs, this does not mean your opinion is any better than mine.

You don't seem to understand the conversation if you think this is about superior opinions. Invoking Rogue Squadron or some other random game would be pointless unless I were first talking about them in a manner that suggested I was not familiar with them. Perhaps if I were to say I've yet to see an honest reboot of a Lego game; so far they all seem to feature lego bricks. There.

GameInformer

Looks like Sony is making a move.

Yeah, I just read that. Sony and their motion controls...It's kinda funny, when the wii came out, they criticized it saying "The remotes look like lolly-pops. Who'd wanna play with that?". Then they make their wii clone thing with controllers that look even more like lolly-pops. Now they might be copying the Xbox...

I'm sorry, but I just have a little trouble believing that claim. Sony would be idiots in the first place to make a PS4 coming out soon.

Jul 6 2011 Anchor

It does seem kinda odd... what is Sony thinking?

Jul 6 2011 Anchor

It might just be a rumor.

Jul 6 2011 Anchor

The report was from the Wall Street Journal. Plus in the article it said that another magazine states production will begin at the end of 2011. I really doubt this is just rumor.

If I see any signs of a PS4 on the next year's E3, I'll be pretty sure the world is indeed fucked and civilization will end on the 21st of december on that same year.

I don't care if Ken Levine screams it at the top of his lungs on national TV. It's just too stupid for them to be doing it.

They need to rebuild faith from their -present- fan base. A new console won't do that, unless they somehow pull off making it only like 200 dollars (which I sincerely doubt!).

P.S. if there's someone who doesn't know who Ken Levine is -- then here's your explanation: he's the guy who created Bioshock, System Shock 2, Bioshock Infinite, and apparently has also written for TV.

...you better hope the reporter who wrote the article was high as f***.

kotaku.com

If the 50% performance difference over the Xbox and PS3 is true, it may be worth getting.

...I'm barely considering getting a 360, and they're at suitably low prices now. Nintendo isn't getting a buy from me -anytime soon-.

The Ps3 was £600 on launch here in the UK (at the time, that was about $1100USD). I only bought one this year, but they are still nearly $500. It's ridiculous.

If I recall, the PS3 was also $600 USD at release, and now you can get one for $300 here. Looks like Sony isn't being fair.
