Synergy cheating in MOTY Thread

Synergy has implemented an auto-voting system that makes any registered user that visits the page automatically vote for synergy for moty(see dot below their link to the MOTY page), this is why it is currently winning. when i asked about it on their forums i was suspended and spammed with junk mail and subscriptions to random tihngs(mainly porn) and i am surprised that they have done this(I voted for them before this event), but I think this constitutes for elimination from the moty competition. Please act accordingly

no-one likes cheaters especially if they don't deserve to win.. (heh, haven't look at synergy yet..)

Why bother cheating in a competition like this? I hope justice is carried out soon enough.

It's unethical and stupid. They will most probably be disqualified and get banned or similiar, why ruin reputation?

I dont think they can get multi votes, scott doesnt use basic code when he does this i just dont see how they can be cheating. Some are cheating with creating double accounts but scott is aware of this and he assured me that he will catch cheaters

Geez... how low can people get trying to cheat on such a competition. This is now not about Synergy in particular as I have no idea if they really pulled something off like this or not and I don't care as I never heard of them anyways .

We'll be looking into this. If we discover they have been cheating... well. Permanent disqualification from the competition is about the norm.

Its not for mod of the year.

Two possible scenarios, both bad:

1) He's right and you cover up => very bad

2) He got something wrong and you banned him => you failed as moderator/admin

You can't just ban somebody for "misunderstanding" something. It's called "communication" hence telling him what the true intention is and not just banning him as this way you look like somebody covering up a fishy move.

That, in my opinion is still rather heinous.

Most probably this is the reason. Just because it is YOUR forum doesn't mean you can be a crappy mod/admin. This is a responsible task no matter if it is on your forum or the forum of somebody else.

People with this behavior I would not suggest as mod/admin as they are more dangerous then helpful.

Have you ever gotten accused of something you havent done?

Sure I have and more than I wish for but slamming the door on those who do is simply said the wrong thing. Banning people is admitting guilt, talking is gold. Banning should only be used if somebody misbehaves repeatedly and you placed an official warning already. Banning is a final resort and not muffling tool.

EDIT: i have found nothing in the disclaimer that says anything about auto-voting for moddb(or any auto-voting at all) anf therefore i will report you to the moddb to have you removed from the moty.

On a semi-related note, one has to question why you get accused of things of things a lot, and why you deal with it in what I believe to be such a poor manner.

We used to get accused of stealing from other mods and other sites constantly. Except nobody reads up on the credits of who made those models/maps.

And my Poor manner's the only one I got to ignorant people.

He thought it was for mod of the year. Which it isnt. Is still not and will never be.
Eliminate if you want im completely serious.

To me Moddings an inspiration/hobby not a competition to see how many of your friends to click vote MOTY for your own mod.

Im sorry I had got that wrong(it was 6am and i read it wrong).
But still you should have given me a chance to atone for my mistake, i didn't know.
Still using that feature for publicity is really not cool, and personally I like your mod(im still wondering why it took so long just for beta 2, its mostly material that has been made before).

mp5k was made from a skin for smg1.

combine machine gun is from the ar2 mkII model.

the medkit model is not that great and doesn't do enough to do anything(OC version is much better)

The bobing left and right is in several other mods

The Hands model and punching are the only models that you made from scratch(from what i know)

and the new player models are kinda low-poly(where is the killzone soldier and agent smith!?!!!?)

and the maps are ok.

skids and the obsidian team have made a more original mod, synergy is just a shit ton of stuff thrown together.

scripts for making any user (registered or not) vote for the topsites without a user's direct contribution (eg clicking on the link THEMSELVES) are illegal under ModDB TOS. It's not publicity, it's against the rules. Expect a reprimand from ModDB.

Situation averted. Turns out it was just a misunderstanding.

If something needs to be done, we will make a decision.
