I've watched a couple of gamedev friends run out of funds in recent months, so I caution you to make a thorough risk-analysis at this juncture. There's a question you need to ask yourself, which may be difficult to face, as close to the project as you are: is it actually likely that your game will make enough money to pay rent/food in the short term, given that you have no marketing budget and no existing media exposure? I know that is sucks to put dreams on hold, even temporarily. But you may want to consider delaying your launch a few months, so that you can pick up a day job or a few contracts to replenish your finances - build up enough money for another, say, 6 months, and then have the freedom to polish and market your game the way it deserves. VR is still in its infancy - I don't think that delaying your launch by 6 months is likely to significantly reduce the early-mover advantage, especially given the lackluster quality of the average VR title today. |
