Hi everyone, I would like to start learning mapping for source engine but i dunno how to start. Could any1 plz give me some infos, tips and links to nice tuts to learn? (:
I have lots of experience in mapping for ET/Q3 Engine.

1 question... is it possible to use gtk radiant instead of hammer? hammer is a pain for me.

I think you can use gtk. Though I'm not sure how you'd load the HL2 entitys.

hammer is the only editor that will work 100% for source, sorry

Use Hammer. It is the most suited one for Source. There is a lot of documentation for it, and tutorials. Look even here on Moddb.com

If i make the brush work at gtkradiant, how can i port it to hammer to apply the entitys?

thats a hard one to do
you need to save the work as .map
then open hammer in hl1 mode, open the map
and save it as .vmf then open hammer in hl2 mode
only issue is some blocks and sliced brushes may come out wrong

crazy :D i love making light beams like that, and yar source may have a bad name for stupid resons but for a 4 year old engine it still packs a nice punch
