Bought PSP Slim, and I regret it from the very day I bought it, very few decent games for it. BTW: I'd regret buying DS as well - even lousier gfx. My take on handheld shit is: You have your mobile phone taht's good enough to play on a toilet seat, for GAMES you have PC/PS3/X360 end of the story. --

I really wish I had a Ds, because of the homebrew stuff. Colors is such an amazing software, basically turning your handheld into a portable sketchbook. I remember saying "as soon as someone develops a Gameboy capable of 3D, I'll buy it". I didn't buy the PSP and neither did I get the DS yet. I think the PSP ha significant power for such a small device, but I hated the analog "stick" from the first time I played it. So with the playstation I really don't like the handling and the DS I haven't tested. It has cool games like "Moon" and overall I like the DS better (better concept), but it's seriously lacking in power. So no, I wouldn't buy a PSP2, because it will be overpriced, have a silly controller again and have no desire to watch movies on that screen. I would probably buy a new DS, if it had a lot more power than the current generation and kept up the great homebrew and networking capabilities. Sony, to me, has failed entirely with this generations of consoles. I think the next generation is going to be better and I don't mind no hardcopies, as long as the store is well-organised. People, who put gameboxes in their shelves are douches anyways. Edited by: SinKing |

Mobile phone gaming is fine, unless you want to play anything that requires twitch control. Bangai-O Spirits would be a terrible mobile phone game, but it's an awesome DS game -- "lets say Portal is a puzzle game, so its a rehash of Tetris" |

i have a ds and a psp they both have their features indeed... they both a decent library of games and some interesting homebrew developments, DS with its touch screen and PSP with its widescreen display and increased processing power (the nintendo 64 emulator is surprisingly good considering the limitations its devs must face). also the psp has no games argument is idiotic. there are plenty of games --

I believe your right. I was writing an article on one a few weeks back and I found a bundle of projects and tools and the like. ...Maybe I should see if I could invite some PSP developers over...? |

Having used the first PSP, unless by releasing the PSP2 with an open development base, it's a huge waste of cash and time. Does anybody else agree that the PSP failed hard in meeting expectations? -- Yo cats, I heard you like the cosmos and philosophy.
Best of luck to ya'.

i would be hesitant to label it piracy when it has justifiable grounds. --

They seemed to have dropped that because they have a massive line-up for 2009 including LBPPSP and Motorstorm and they've said that they will announce alot more at E3 09. Which makes it a funny time to start working/leaking on the PSP 2. Hopefully this is just a rumor because I like my UMD (backward-compatibilty) and don't won't to see a PSP2 released as soon as the PSP is getting some attetion from SCE. |

By piracy paranioa, I meant that the devices' amazing technical potential is blocked to the average consumer -- Robert-33's Darkscribes profile "If we are made of stardust, from whence |

Come on guys, you can't see the failure of a gaming device by looking at its predecessor. Game cube was a massive failure, now look at the Wii, its set to be the best selling console to date. I don't see why Sony wouldn't make one, its making them money and selling just fine. They've sold over 50 million Worldwide, sure that isn't as good as Nintendo ds's 100 million; but its a nice start. The PSP2 will probably fix most of the problems with the currant PSP, better controls, high res touch screen, more ram, a better processor and for the love of go; a new menu O.o. I have a psp slim and a DS lite, I use my PSP a hell of alot more then the DS. I'm not much of a fan of brain age to be perfectly honest, I'd rather play a real game. Mind you, I might be a bit biased as my indie project is focus mainly on the PSP. Fact is, there's tons of AAA games on the PSP. At the end of the day I'd happily buy a PSP2, even if it was slightly over priced (I spent a bit much on my launch PSP). Edit: Did some research on meta critic. Number of games rated over 90 DS - 5 Games rated 80 - 90 DS - 71 Games rated 70 - 80 DS - 161 Sure the DS has more better games, but the PSP does have good games. Now for the flip side of things. Games rated under 50 DS - 93 Conclusion, DS has more good games , but a hell of alot more bad games then the PSP. Edited by: Samuk |
