Wowzah. Thats a long list of peoplers for a mod still cookin in the think tank. Maybe you should start out with a smaller team. You know... like 1 programmer so you can have proof of concept and a working alpha. What good is it to have a video editor when you dont even have the HL2 sdk ready...

I guess I over shot the thing, maybe I will just get a programmer for the start,but I do have chapter 1 written and ready, and my sdk is ready Edited by: kromax388 |

I have a thread set up in the Ideas and concepts called" Necrotic Plague", that should sum it up, if you want anymore than that, I will send you the first chapter I have written(This may be modified after the mod progress starts) |

Do you need a team at all at this stage? Surely you can do your first prototype with existing assets, then expand once you've got development rolling. -- "lets say Portal is a puzzle game, so its a rehash of Tetris" |

Yes, I need at least a programmer, since my skills in that are very bad, and to see if the project will even work, I need that |

What do you need a programmer for? You have everything you need to build a prototype of the first level without adding a single line of code. Believe me, if you want to wait for a programmer before you get the ball rolling, that ball is going nowhere. Get a good prototype built and your project starts to look a lot more joinable -- "lets say Portal is a puzzle game, so its a rehash of Tetris" |

When you say prototype, do you mean like, the base story, the sdk file, ETC.? because I already have that. |
||
Mar 9 2009 Anchor | ||
Prototype is teh thing you can play, but far from the final result. |

To be very specific, in this case it will be a single map, using existing weapons and characters as placeholders to implement a small section of your storyline. To extend Yellomice's description, it should be the best representation of your goals that you can produce without someone else's assistance. -- "lets say Portal is a puzzle game, so its a rehash of Tetris" |

Programming isn't as hard as you make out - the SDK docs are very helpful in getting started, you can use free tools to work with it, and it should be easy to get hold of a C++ quick-start from your local library (Physical books are a lot better, but online guides are also good). As other people have said, creating a basic map (even if it's blocky) using existing game assets is a good way to begin and create interest, and after a bit of prodding you should start to get the hang of the SDK. |

Look, the argument is pointless, I'm starting the prototype, and whens it finished, anyone who has applied, has applied |

So mappers that start later aren't appreciated? Anyway, the people have a good point. You won't find a competent programmer to join a project with no work to show for itself. Programmers are relatively scarce, and the number of projects without them much larger. You want a programmer that can get the job done? Demonstrate you can do your fair share too (and that accounts to being more than just a 'manager/idea guy'). |

I is make console adding program in C#. I is supa coder!!!!!!! (Actually it's true.) sorry. That was pointless. But it needed to be said. --

I am writer, and I should had said, would be much Appreciated, So far my attempts at a prototype failed, since an engine error always shows up |

Sometimes, if you tell mod communities what the error was, they tell you how you can fix it! Amazing, but true! -- "lets say Portal is a puzzle game, so its a rehash of Tetris" |

If the sun was a lamp. How much energy would it use? (answer in kWhatt please). -- Best Regards, |

Your question doesn't make sense. First you need to specify some parameters. Are we looking at simple lux, or the full EM spectrum? Furthermore, are we assuming the sun to be a 100% efficient emitter, or does some of the power go towards maintaining the temperature? I'll assume for the moment we're ignoring the solar cycle. I could do the maths but I'd rather have a clear target. Plus I think you mean kwatt or kW, not kWhatt, but bonus points for not saying KWatt (capital k, capital W). Even so, I think GW would be a better measure. Other bonus points for not involving kWh. |

Can people stop typing random stuff here? unless its related to the mod, not interested. |
