Hi Board - I realise I'm a total newbie here but one of the people pledging for my Kickstarter suggested I poke my head in here and let you know what's going on with Elite: Dangerous....

If you don't already know, this seminal space trading game that defined the sandbox genre is going for funding over at Kickstarter - just 4 days to go and it's looking like we'll make it, though it might be quite close so please do head over and pledge if you're a fan!

One of the pledge tiers Frontier Developments have offered are 'writers packs' giving authors and fans alike the option to write one piece of fiction set in the Elite: Dangerous world. They are offering to help promote these books too when they come to release and there is quite a lot of excitement building around them, with lots of writers setting up Kickstarter's to fund the £4.5k pledge to buy one.

My book bid is already funded, and I'll be aiming for stretch goals to include an audio book with a cameo from David Braben himself in the next 30 odd days that the Kickstarter is running...

But some other authors still need funding and have deadlines in the next couple of days... if they get funded then they will pledge another £4.5k to the main pot. So if you're a fan of sci-fi writing/gaming/Elite/were born in the 60s or 70s etc... then head on over to Kickstarter and search Elite to find all the goodies (as a newbie I can't post links to help you out!) ... my book is called 'Mostly Harmless' btw, and will be a random comedy inspired by the writing of Douglas Adams...

Thanks for your time - hope to see you in the Elite: Dangerous backers comments thread on the Kickstarter, which is lively & very fun! It could be quite a ride there the last 4 days... there is a lot of love for this game :)
