You cannot mod any console games, period (expect PS3, I think, not sure how easy it is though). |

Theoretically you can... using an emulator, unpacking the ISO and modify files in there. But PSX games use all proprietary file formats and especially like pseudo-archives (aka archived files but without file headers... the file offsets are hard-coded). So as mentioned above, you can't "really" mod console games as you might be used from PC games. |

The most you'll be able to mod most console games is what you can actually access. Like Dragonlord said, things are stored is proprietary archives, which usually no one but the developers of the game have the tools required to extract. If you do somehow get into the archives and find a way to extract and re-pack files, you'd also have to figure out how to edit the proprietary formats they probably used for things like models and textures. You probably aren't going to have access to anything major. The only thing you'll likely be able to do (if you do get this far) is change models and textures, and maybe some game settings if they're stored in INI's or something similar. |

By now, I'd expect it's likely the case that even the developers don't have them. |

QFT. Some of the file formats there are quite hell and don't make much sense. In rare cases though they actually used something which makes remotely sense: Youtu.be . From time to time I poke around in some of these ISO files for the LULz of it but if you manage to pull out a texture or model from the files it's already Christmas |

It depends on the files. In some cases files can actually contain readable text in others they are binary. If you want to mess with PSX games a hex-editor should be your best friend. Otherwise you are not getting far. It's really the low-level kind of modding you have to do there. No compare to high-level modding as with PC games. |
