I'd go with PS3 because it's newer than the 360, and you don't have to pay for Xbox Live.

The Ps3 isn't really newer than the 360. Same generation, similar hardware. What you're suggesting is like buying a 1996 Opel Astra instead of a 1995 Opel Astra.

I suggest to you buy Xbox 360 console because I'm also used this one console...It has a lot of features & good graphic qualities rather then consoles...You can buy this one... I am also weak in this section...................:(

One thing to consider is that the PS3's discs are bigger. A certain X360 game, ahem, Battlefield 3, requires a 1.5 GB patch to get high quality textures.

That said, the Xbox is a nice piece of hardware.

I'd certainly make my decision based on the games I'd want to play. Most games are released on both, but there are a few that are exclusive. Both are great consoles, but if you can only afford one - decide based on the games, not the console specs.

Yeah that is what it pretty much Boiled down to - Specs both are pretty much the same.

Both consoles games are Pretty much the same.

At least I can play games i like with decent (and Legal) Mods as well as plenty of options besides games.

I am looking at both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 but I can only buy one.

I am looking at the PlayStation 3 right now due to its free online gaming service (PSN) and its many features and Exclusive titles (PlayStation Home, etc) I am also some what biased against the Xbox 360 due to the RROD issue they had for so long and I do not know if they got it fixed...

PS3 Games

- Dust 514
- Star Hawk
- MAG

Feel free to try and convince me other wise :)

They fixed it by better hardware but anyway I'm sort of a fan of Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft but I do recommend the 360 because at the moment it has all the classic's Halo, Gears of War, CoD, Battlefield.

Plus it has the Kinect feature which is supposed to be pretty good but I'd be careful about the PS3 because over the years it has been under heavy attack by a group called 'Annoymous', personally for me Ps3 is only good for offline games like Ratchet and Clank but I tend to play those on ps2, psp.

Also at the end of the day 360, ps3 both have similar graphics but it's recommended by John Carmack himself that the Ps3 isn't the best for desiging due to the heavy programming. Plus if you think about the price tag on the 360 online it's like a anti-virus software which would cost the same because Microsoft actually bothers trying to keep their firewall secure while the Ps3 was using a basic firewall, was critised over it.

Sony have tried to apologise over it but a lot of gamers ended up moving from the ps3 to 360.

The hell are you smoking? They repeatedly said they are not responsible for the attacks. The only ones saying that are the mainstream media.

It is a group called lolsec from what I remember...

Anonymous has nothing to do with the attacks on PSN as far as I am aware.

I own both the PlayStation and Xbox and personally I prefer the PS3 because of the:

PlayStation Network - FREE
- Uses good ol' dollars (Or whatever your currency is)
- Almost no ads for Netflix or Foxtel or Facebook or any other shite like that

Hardware (Now don't get all shitty with me saying "It looks exactly the same!")
- The PlayStation's hardware is so much more powerful than the xbox It just doesn't get utilised because the developers create the games with the xbox because it was first on the market and it's hardware is more similar to a PC making it easier to code and such.
- A single Dual Layer Blu-ray disc can hold 50GB of data

Interface - The Xbox live dashboard or whatever it's called nowadays is a mess, it's sluggish and all over the place. The Xross media bar is clean, quick and easy to use
- As for the controllers the Xbox controller is heavy and bulky and has an external battery pack for gods sake and if you want to charge on the go you have to buy an add on that costs more dollars. As for the DualShock3 It is slim, light and can be charged with any micro USB cable...

While I must admit that the Xbox has a few redeeming qualities like cross game chat.....

Hey, consider that PS4 is apparently gonna be unveiled at E3 next year... So splashing out on a PS3 could be a bum steer.

Eh, not entirely. I'm planning on getting the original PSP (only 80 bucks these days), rather than the Vita. Why? Because the games are all released, so their cheap, it has decent-enough functionality, I'm no graphics fiend, and then when the next big thing comes around, the Vita will be in the same position, so why not use the same logic for the PS3? The PS3's library is huge, and its been grabbing exclusives left and right (such as AC 1 being on AC: Revelations, extra DLC for several games, and and Dead Space: Extraction). Yes it means you'll be waiting for the PS4, but you'll have easily months of entertainment before the day comes.

And for God's sake people! Yes, the PSN was hacked, get over it. I got a free copy of inFAMOUS out of it, so I'm rather content to let it go. It's nowhere near the same level as the RRoD, so move on already.

Dead Space: Extraction isn't PS3 exclusive.

It depends entirely on whether PS4 will be backwards compatible, I guess. I was referring to value for money: when the new one comes out, the PS3 is gonna drop like a stone, pricewise.

As for Vita, I'll be waiting around until it's hacked. Not for piracy, but because I use my PSP as a fully fledged computer, not a shallow games portal.

My recommendation: get a Wii and buy games that you and your family would like to play together. All of you should go get it aswell as every game for it thereafter.

However the PS3 version doesn't require motion controls and has a decent achievement system.
