How can I insert special characters into CoD2? Thread

Hi everyone,

I'm the creator of the surnames and ranks addon for Call of Duty 2 which adds, as you might imagine, new surnames, ranks and other improvements for the NPCs of the Allied nations of the game. Now I'd like to expand the additions to the German Army too (for mods that let you play as the Axis like Back 2 Fronts for example), but I found out that I can't put special characters (ä, ö, ü, ß) into the game files, or better, I can put them, but the results are quite interesting:

1) Schlüter; 2) Färber; 3) König.

The German characters are replaced with other special characters, so this means that special characters are "available" so to speak, but I have to insert the right code for each character, I guess...

Does anybody know how to fix this?
